Over the course of the next several weeks and leading up to an April launch concert, NewMusicalTheatre.com will be adding a new writer to the site every Friday.

Cornelia Street Cafe has announced their schedule of events for this weekend. Located between West 4th and Bleeker Streets, Cornelia Street Cafe was from the beginning an artists' café. Within a month there were poetry readings and music performances; and then a tiny play written for the café; and fiction writers; and Eskimo poetry; and puppeteers; and a living portrait of James Joyce; and the Four Quartets and the entire Iliad; and mime shows on the street outside the café; and comedians; and fairy tales and storytellers and Punch and Judy shows.

Beginning March 18, Barefoot Theatre Company will be presenting the Australian premier of Lebensraum. New York Theatre Barn presents Bailey Hanks and Briana Carlson-Goodman in Speargrove Presents- a new musical based on actual events. With direction by Joe Barros & Laura Brandel the production will celebrate New York Theatre Barn's 3rd Anniversary with this special one-night only benefit. Speargrove Presents will take place on April 5 at 8 PM at the Julia Miles Theatre. Speargrove Presents is the product of UNTITLED 4: Project Collaboration.

According to Variety, the Denver Center Theater Company's 2010-2011 season will include two world premieres written by Ken Weitzman and Michele Lowe: The Catch and Map of Heaven. Both plays had readings in February as a part of DCTC's Colorado New Play Summit.

A staged reading of Dutchess featuring Mary Bacon, John Daggett, Francesca Faridany, Delphi Harrington, David Landon, Alex Morf, Alexander Sovronsky, Elliot Villar, and Nick Westrate will take place at the Theater at St. Clement's on Monday, March 22 at 7:30pm.

According to the LA Times, The Pasadena Playhouse, which closed its doors on February 7 due to financial troubles, is in the process of making decisions regarding their future legal scenario. Aiming to eventually return to the boards, Pasadena Playhouse is currently $2 million in debt.

On Sunday, March 28, Ann Harada, Raymond J. Lee, Deborah Lew, Jose Llana, Ann Sanders, and Christine Toy Johnson, will celebrate the DVD release of 'Transcending - The Wat Misaka Story' with a benefiit concert for the film. The event will take place at the Laurie Beechman Theatre at 9:30pm.

Four-time Tony Award winner Liza Minnelli will perform 'Liza Minnelli and Friends' at the legendary Chicago Theatre. Presented by Star Productions, Minnelli will sing sensational American standards in a glamorous and intimate concert. The show will feature some of the greatest songs of all time performed in their purest, most intimate form with Minnelli and her quartet. She will be accompanied by Billy Stritch.

On April 19, 2010 the National Dance Institute will honor Harry Belafonte at their 33rd annual gala, at the NOKIA Theatre Times Square beginning at 6 PM. The evening's festivities will be emceed by Terrence Mann. In addition to performances by NDI dancers, Allegra Kent, George S. Irving, and Isaiah Sheffer will perform Aesop's Fable, The Lion and the Mouse. The evening will also honor director and producer James D. Stern. Proceeds benefit National Dance Institute.

Whoopi Goldberg, Ellie Kendrick, Rebecca Eaton and Francine Prose will be participating in a discussion held after a preview of Masterpiece's The Diary of Anne Frank, on April 6 at the 92nd Street Y. On Monday March 22, Joe's Pub will be presenting Desmon & Feichtner Continue To Disappoint Their Parents, a concert featuring the songbook of Jeremy Desmon and Vadim Feichtner, who have been referred to as the Rogers and Hart of the new millenium. The evening will be directed by Ben Rimalower and produced by Noah Cornman and Sh-k-boom Records.

Autumn Hurlbert, Lori Prince, and Michael Puzzo are set to star in Killing Women, by Marisa Wegrzyn and presented by kef productions. The production runs at the Beckett Theatre May 13- June 5 and will be directed by Adam Fitzgerald. Additional casting is yet to be announced.

Legendary Hollywood and Broadway leading lady Shirley Jones will be making her West End debut on March 22 in concert at the Arts Theatre. Today, it has been announced that she will be joined on stage by a special guest - her son Patrick Cassidy. This event will be held March 22-April 3 for 12 performances only.

Tony Award winner Rondi Reed is set to participate in a reading of Making God Laugh, written by Sean Grennan on March 25. The private presentation will take place at 3 PM in the Irish Repertory Theatre's Studio Theatre at 132 W. 22nd Street.

Reprise Theatre Company will open A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, 1962's Tony-Award-winning Best Musical, March 16-28 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. Directed by David Lee, the production's book is by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Beginning March 16, tickets for the upcoming Broadway revival of La Cage Aux Folles will become available at the box office of the Longacre Theatre. As reported by the New York Times, Brean Hammond, a professor from the University of Nottingham in England, claims that he has discovered evidence that an 18th century play contains reworked material by Shakespeare. Hammond has received an endorsement from the Arden Shakespeare, an anthology of Shakespeare's pieces.
