Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.
  • Next On Stage - Working on this project and having the opportunity to spotlight so many talented young people from around the country has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.

92nd Street Y Spotlights Classical Composers in 2010-2011 Season

The 92nd Street Y has announced their 2010-2011 schedule which will focus on classical composers. The line-up includes the Takacs Quartet in a Schubert concert series October 16, February 26, and April 9. Another concert series will feature the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio playing the music of the Schumanns, Brahms, and Chopin on October 27-28, December 15-16, and April 6-7.

NEXT TO NORMAL Tour Will Play Toronto, July 2011

The Pulitzer Prize winning musical Next to Normal will play Toronto in July of 2011, according to thestar.com. Though the venue has yet to be announced, the North American tour stop will be produced by Dancap.

FELA! Gets West End Treatment, 11/6

The National Theatre will be bringing Broadway's Fela! to London's Olivier Theatre for a November 6 premiere. The show will be joined by Michael Grandage's Danton's Death and new plays by Moira Buffini and Mike Bartlett. Also announced by the National, Desmond Barrit and Malcom Sinclair will be joining the cast of The Habit of the Art beginning July 14.

Spurred by the one-year anniversary of President Obama's pronouncement to close Guantanamo, Culture Project brings its Blueprint for Accountability series to the Newseum.The event will take place April 22 at the Newseum in Washington D.C. and will feature Matt Dillon, Dr. Anna Keller, Dr. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., John Leguizamo, Jeremy Scahill, Rose Styron, Ron Suskind, Vince Warren, and Valerie Plame Wilson.

Del Shores to Direct JD3atrical's YELLOW, 6/11-7/25

JD3atrical Productions will be presenting Del Shores' first new play in over seven years, the world premiere of Yellow, written and directed by Del Shores' (The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife, Southern Baptist Sissies, Sordid Lives) and produced by Louise Beard, Emerson Collins, Jason Dottley and Del Shores. Yellow will begin previews on Friday, May 29 at 8pm and will open on Friday, June 11 at 8pm and run thru Sunday, July 25 at the Coast Playhouse, 8325 Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood.

RSC Brings Shakespeare to Twitter

Ching Valdes-Aran and Ali Ewoldt are set to star in Diverse City Theater's The Pearl Project. Performances run July 6-25 at the Clurman Theatre, and will feature full-length plays by Eric Gamalinda and Jorshinelle Taleon-Sonza and two one-acts, by Kristine M. Reyes. Valdes-Aran will star in Gamalinda's Resurrection, and Ewoldt in Reyes' Quarter Century Baby. Additional casting and creative teams are yet to be announced.

Brian d'Arcry James to Appear at Schadenfreude, 4/10

Broadway star Brain d'Arcy James will be appearing at Schadenfreude in The City That Works this Saturday night. Brother of Schadenfruede's Kate James, he will be playing a crooner in a sketch about a house band on the Northwest Side. The performance is a collaboration between Schadenfreude and the band The Jordan Years.

According to Variety, The Last Goodbye, the rock version of Romeo and Juliet featuring songs by Jeff Buckley, will be premiering at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. The show will be produced by WTF in association with Hal Luftig, Ruth and Stephen Hendel, Alan D. Marks, and Stephen Moore.

Hugh Jackman Joins Kate Winslet in Ballsy Farrelly Bros. Film

Broadway veteren Hugh Jackman is set to appear alongside Kate Winslet in a new movie by the Farrelly brothers. In the film, Jackman wil play an unfortunate man whose testicals are attached to his chin. Winslet, his date for the night, is the only person who seems to notice this oddity.

Green Day to Headline Lollapalooza Festival, 8/6-8

Green Day will be one of the headliners of this year's Lollapalooza Fesival at Grant Park on August 6-8. Joining them will be Lady Gaga, Soundgarden, The Strokes, and Arcade Fire. Green Day's music is currently being played daily at the St. James Theatre in the musical American Idiot. The show is set to open April 20.
