On March 19, 2013, Tenor Anthony Kearns, founding member of the popular group, The Irish Tenors, performed at the 2013 Friends of Ireland Lunch at the U.S. Capitol as the guest of Speaker of the House John Boehner. Special guests included President Barack Obama, Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) Enda Kenny, members of Congress, and dignitaries from Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Irish Tenor Anthony Kearns performed at the 2013 Friends of Ireland Luncheon at the U.S. Capitol today, March 19, 2013 as the guest of Speaker of the House John Boehner. After more than three decades away, Reed Birney made a well-deserved return to the Broadway stage when Roundabout's production of Picnic opened earlier this month. He plays Howard Bevans, the small-town businessman who gets entangled with "old-maid schoolteacher" Rosemary Sydney (Elizabeth Marvel). Between his 1977 Broadway debut inGemini and his current turn as Howard, Birney found himself working off-Broadway. He gained critical acclaim for his work-particularly for his portrayal of the violent Ian in Sarah Kane's Blasted at SoHo Rep, a departure from his customary "nice-guy" roles. According to the New York Times, Diane Paulus' upcoming production of Pippin might be heading to Broadway after it plays Cambridge's American Repertory Theater in December. Patrick Healy writes that producers Barry and Fran Weissler are looking into backing the show for a Broadway run. A spokesman told NYT: "It's a project that Barry and Fran are very interested in. They're huge fans of Diane. Right now they're just supporting the project."
