The biennial Clifford E. Lee Choreography Award at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is awarded to an emerging Canadian dance choreographer or company demonstrating exceptional talent. Established in 1978 by the Clifford E. Lee Foundation, the award was created to encourage the development of Canadian choreographers.

LES PRIX DE LA DANSE DE MONTREAL (PDM) today announced the winners of the 2021-2022 season during an awards ceremony held at Espace Marie Chouinard. The event was hosted by Anik Bissonnette, artistic director of the Ecole supérieure de ballet du Québec, under the honorary presidency of contemporary dance artist Frédérick Gravel—a choreographer, dancer, musician, lighting designer, teacher, and artistic director of Compagnie DLD.

Knight Theater should have been abuzz last Friday night. Yet somehow, a year after Charlotte Ballet's 50th-anniversary celebration - celebrated a year after the company's actual 50th anniversary - my own excitement wasn't reflected by the community at large. A night after Opera Carolina opened its 2022-23 season at Belk Theater to an empty upper balcony and a disappointing crowd, the curtain went up on Ballet's new era with a similarly sparse turnout.

As Associate Artistic Director, Mr. Ross will work in close collaboration with Mr. Boal to implement and advance PNB’s artistic vision, and consult on all artistic matters including programming, hiring, and casting. Crystal Pite returns to The Royal Ballet to transform her critically acclaimed work Flight Pattern into a full-length world premiere. The winner of an Olivier Award for Best Dance Production in 2018, Flight Pattern is set to Henryk Górecki's Symphony no 3 ('Symphony of Sorrowful Songs'). This haunting work is a showcase for Pite's distinctive movement style and is a powerful response to the refugee crisis which remains one of the biggest humanitarian problems in our world today.
