Weezer has released the final installment of their year-long SZNZ EP project – SZNZ: Winter. The band released the EP’s first song, “I Want A Dog,” earlier this month, in addition to playing the track on Jimmy Kimmel Live for the last date of their seasonal residency on the show. Watch the new lyric video now!
Weezer has reportedly cancelled their previously announced Broadway residency that was set for September. The band's singer, Rivers Cuomo, announced the cancellation to fans in his Discord server, which was then shared on Reddit, citing the reason being 'low ticket sales and unbelievably high expenses.'
In celebration of Weezer's innovative new SZNZ project, a collection of four EPs matching each season, the band will have short residency on Broadway this fall. Find out the show's schedule and how to get tickets.
Each EP will offer its own palette of colors, creatures, and emotions to explore. They’re also being created in real time, made in tandem with the season themselves; the band only just finished SZNZ: Spring, and have yet to begin work on SZNZ: Summer, SZNZ: Autumn, and SZNZ: Winter. Not only is OKLAHOMA! celebrated as the inaugural collaboration between theatre icons Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, but it's also credited as the first "book musical," a musical play where the songs and dances are fully integrated into the context of the show. Based on its reputation as an easy-to-produce, family-friendly favorite, OKLAHOMA! is a staple among theatres across the country. This season, the show happens to appear in several local line-ups, and last Thursday I rode my surrey out to Farmer's Branch to catch the final dress rehearsal of Firehouse Theatre's endearing production.
