Peter and the Starcatcher Photos - US Tour

Kitchen Theatre Company continues its 2016-17 season and heats up the winter with Sex With Strangers, a provocative and sensuous exploration of ambition and obsession in the digital age. Sex With Strangers runs at Kitchen Theatre Company from March 12 to April 2, 2017.

We're excited for the New Works Festival! The plays were written by Metro students, predominately from my beginning and advanced theatre classes. Once completed, the plays were read by a group of 9 readers. The readers consisted of one of my advanced theatre students and a group of artists from Brelby (including Brian and Shelby). The plays were selected, began rehearsing in January, and will premiere at Metropolitan Arts Institute at the end of the month.

MCC Theater will soon present the New York City premiere of the new musical Ride the Cyclone, which marks just the third musical in MCC's now-iconic 30-year history of producing new works for the American theater. With book, music and lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell, Ride the Cyclone had its celebrated U.S. premiere in 2015 at Chicago Shakespeare Theater under the direction and choreography of Rachel Rockwell, who returns for the MCC production.

Presented by The Barn Stage Company, the 2016 Summer Series opened in July with the Tony Award-winning play, PETER AND THE STARCATCHER. The show runs Thursday-Sunday for three weekends at The Truax Building in Old Town Temecula. This production comes to Temecula for the first time. An Inland Empire Premiere! PETER AND THE STARCATCHER is directed by J. Scott Lapp, with Movement by Chelsea Nicole and Musical Direction by Leigh Sutherlin. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Kitchen Theatre Company is celebrating its 25th season in 2015-2016, and the centerpiece is PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, a play that is a celebration of live theater and ensemble story telling: a great adventure with music told by a cast of twelve actors and a 'let's put on a show' spirit. Tanya Barfield, author of THE CALL, which is now on stage at Dobama Theatre, didn't want to write the play. She stated in a December, 2012 interview, 'Without realizing what I was doing, I pointedly and stubbornly refused. . . What I knew-what I was known for-were plays about the African-American experience through history. I did not want to write a contemporary play, a play close to me, a play about adoption.'

Broadway's new suspense thriller Misery, starring two-time Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe Award winner Bruce Willis and three-time Emmy Award winner Laurie Metcalf, begins performances on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre (235 W 44th Street), and officially opens on Sunday, November 15, 2015, in a strictly limited 16-week engagement. On September 23-24, Josh Grisetti will make his solo debut at 54 Below! Josh made his Broadway debut this past spring in It Shoulda Been You, for which he won the 2015 Clarence Derwent Award and received Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations. Off-Broadway and regionally, Josh has performed in Sheryl Crow's Diner, Peter and the Starcatcher, and the revival of Rent. Monday evening Artistic Directors Ariel Bock and Jonathan Croy welcomed a full house at The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington.

Though the weather is still warm, soon the leaves will be turning and the Fall 2015 theatre season will be upon us. Here's a list of some of the offerings from September through December.

From the chic cocktail reception, to the spectacular performance, the lavish dinner and the elegant VIP after-party, Broadway in the Berkshires, Shakespeare & Company's Benefit Celebration was a smash hit! Monday evening Artistic Directors Ariel Bock and Jonathan Croy welcomed a full house at The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington. Broadway actor and three-time Emmy Award- Winner Dick Cavett hosted the one-night-only Benefit Performance with verve and witty repartee, and even offered audiences a 60 second lesson in moonwalking. Proceeds from the event benefit the Company's wide-reaching and nationally recognized Training and Education programs.

Jackie Maxwell, the Shaw Festival's Artistic Director, states, 'I have always found that theatre is at its best when the audience spans several generations - a guarantee that the story being told on stage is being taken in and reacted to in a variety of ways, enriching the experience for all.'

THE COLOR PURPLE, directed by Tony Award winner John Doyle, will begin preview performances on Tuesday, November 10 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45th street) and will officially open on Thursday, December 10. Check out photos of the marquee below!
