Los Angeles-based band Swerve has shared their new single, a cover of The Stone Roses' iconic track “I Wanna Be Adored.” The band's reworked version of the classic song debuted at Glide Magazine and is now available on all digital platforms for playlist shares. “I Wanna Be Adored” is featured on Swerve’s anticipated EP The Darkroom, set to be released on June 21 (pre-order). Redd Kross has shared the rousing new single “Born Innocent,” the second song made available from the highly anticipated 18-track eponymous double-album, due for release June 28, 2024. “Born Innocent” appears in the closing credits of the brilliant documentary Born Innocent: The Redd Kross Story, directed by Andrew Reich, who has also directed the video that accompanies the single’s release, which features footage from the must-see documentary. With twenty-three albums and several million miles under the West Texas native’s belt, Driven to Drive is Ely’s first road album, featuring a collection of songs inspired by his travels. “I wrote the [Odds of the Blues] later when I put my studio together in Austin,' he said. 'I asked Bruce recently if he would like to sing with me on this song and he said he’d love to. We’ve been long lost friends for a long time...' Listen to the new single!

Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre will make a return to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August with three productions set to hit the stage as part of the 2024 Made in Scotland Showcase. Both Dundee Rep Theatre and Scottish Dance Theatre have presented work in the showcase in previous years, but 2024 marks the first time both will be taking part in the same year.

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the original Reefer Madness, a new revised version Reefer Madness the Musical will open May 30, 2024 at The Whitney. I talked to director/choreographer Spencer Liff during the early days of rehearsals, so casting hadn’t been finalized. Members of the original creative team reuniting to produce are: actors Kristen Bell, Christian Campbell and Alan Cumming, creators Kevin Murphy and Dan Studney, Andy Fickman, who directed 2005's Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical, and America Olivo Campbell.

Uganda-born, Austin-based, singer-songwriter Jon Muq shares the penultimate single “Flying Away From Home” from his forthcoming debut album, Flying Away, produced by Dan Auerbach and set for release May 31. Dolly Parton has announced a new concert project for orchestra, Dolly Parton's Threads: My Songs in Symphony, a full-evening symphonic storytelling experience exploring the 'threads' of her life in song. Threads: My Songs in Symphony features Dolly’s songs and the stories behind them in an innovative multimedia symphonic experience featuring Dolly on screen, leading audiences in a visual-musical journey of her songs, her life and her stories.

I love it whenever they take real strong women from history and infuse them into these musicals because it keeps their spirit alive and it lets us know what an amazing part these women played in the history of these great events.

Algos Music has announced that vintage vocalist extraordinaire ALLYSON BRIGGS will release her new album Promises, Prayers, and Raindrops: Allyson Briggs Sings Burt Bacharach on Friday, July 12. It will be available on CD and in digital and streaming platforms.
