What did our critic think of DRACULA at Elmwood Playhouse?Set in England in 1914, the overall look of the show is nicely evoked by Set Designer, Rob Ward; Seward’s office in the Sanatorium, Lucy’s Bedroom and Dracula’s lair are all effective and opulent. Janet Fenton’s costumes capture the period, and are a wonder to behold. The entire crew, led by stage managers Nancy Logan and Kathy Simpson, excels in propelling the story with their technical precision. @elmwoodplayhous

The game’s afoot with howling fun! The Cape Playhouse, the longest-running professional summer theatre in the country, will soon wrap up its summer season with Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery. This final production will run from August 30th thru September 9th.

American Symphony Orchestra has launched ASO Online, a new digital initiative in collaboration with Bard's Fisher Center. To stay in touch with its audiences and to help the community escape from stress through music during the COVID-19 pandemic, ASO will release a recording of a past performance for streaming on its website each Wednesday. Streaming content will alternate each week between a??live video recordings of operas from Bard's SummerScape festival featuring ASO as the orchestra-in-residence, and iconic symphonic audio recordings from the Orchestra's past seasons.

In celebration of what would be legendary film and television icon Ricardo Montalbán's 100th birthday in 2020, the historic Hollywood theatre, The Montalbán, whose moniker is “where entertainment begins,” is unveiling new plans to fulfill Ricardo Montalbán's dream of diversity and inclusion. Though the film is historically significant for its integration of synchronized sound, it is most remembered for its controversial use of blackface. This Anastasia is impeccably performed, gorgeously rendered, and entertaining to be sure. Still, to me, the new songs don't soar alongside the old ones. I wonder how I'd feel if I didn't already know those old songs by heart. That's the risk the show's creators took in translating Anastasia for Broadway.
