POLKADOTS: THE COOL KIDS MUSICAL debuted its developmental production at the Ivortyon Playhouse, on Monday, April 11th, 2016. Conceived by (composer) Douglas Lyons, POLKADOTS was inspired by the 1957 events of the 'Little Rock Nine' in Arkansas and serves as a colorful musical history lesson for children, reminding them that our individual differences make us awesome, not outcasts. Broadway Bound Kids, a NYC performing arts education organization, will host the first annual BROADWAY BEE on Monday, May 9, at 7pm at The Cutting Room (44 East 32nd St.), featuring actors from current hit musicals, in an adults only spelling bee, that will benefit the organization.

POLKADOTS: THE COOL KIDS MUSICAL will receive its premiere developmental production at the Ivortyon Playhouse, April 11th-16th, 2016. Conceived by (composer) Douglas Lyons, POLKADOTS was inspired by the 1957 events of the 'Little Rock Nine' in Arkansas and serves as a colorful musical history lesson for children, reminding them that our individual differences make us awesome, not outcasts.POLKADOTS has lyrics by Mr. Lyons, who co-wrote the score with Greg Borowsky (Sony ATV). Melvin Tunstall III (BLooM!) helmed the book. The show's original illustrations are by Salina Giardino.

Producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing announced today that Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, the smash hit musical about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter, will launch a new digital lottery ticket policy beginning tomorrow, March 22. Producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing announced today that Ben Jacoby, previously seen in the US Tour of Phantom of the Opera, will step into the role of 'Barry Mann' in Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, beginning the week of February 29, 2016. Jacoby will take over for Tony Award nominee Jarrod Spector, whose last performance is scheduled for Sunday, February 28, 2016. Beautiful - The Carole King Musical plays at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 West 43rd Street).

Just yesterday, the company of Beautiful celebrated a milestone- two years on Broadway! Since opening on Broadway on January 12, 2014, Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter has broken all box office records at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, where it is now the highest grossing production in the theatre's history.  It recently passed the $100 million in grosses and is already the 27th highest grossing musical in Broadway history.  BroadwayWorld was there for the special day and you can check out photos below!

The Broadway production of BEAUTIFUL, which opened on Broadway on January 12, 2014, celebrates two years tonight at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 West 43rd Street).

Christine O'Grady (Hair) will direct and choreograph the Ivoryton production, with make up design by Joe Dulude (Wicked) and wig design by Bobbie Zlotnik.

Creator Douglas Lyons (Five Points: An American Musical) is the show's lyricist and co-composed the score alongside Greg Borowsky (Sony ATV). The book is by Melvin Tunstall III.
