Galerie Lelong Artists on View at Art Basel Miami Beach, Dec 6-9

Galerie Lelong New York and Paris's presentation for Art Basel Miami Beach 2012 will feature program highlights such as installations and sculpture, historical works on paper, Jannis Kounellis's drawings in Art Kabinett, and a new Jaume Plensa installation for Art Public. Other artists on view include Petah Coyne, Angelo Filomeno, Gunther Forg, Alfredo Jaar, Lin Tianmiao, Cildo Meireles, Ana Mendieta, Helio Oiticica, Emilio Perez, Kate Shepherd, Sean Scully, Kiki Smith, and Nancy Spero. The works will be on view December 6-9, 2012.

Art World Celebrates U.S. Department of State's Art in Embassies' 50th Anniversary Today

In honor of the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations' Office of Art in Embassies (AIE) 50th anniversary, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will host a luncheon at 12:15 p.m. today, November 30th in the State Department's Diplomatic Reception Rooms to recognize AIE's achievements. The AIE mission is two-fold - to create the highest quality art exhibitions for ambassador residences, embassies, and consulates overseas, and to further the Department's cultural diplomacy outreach through the sponsorship of artist exchanges that foster cross-cultural understanding.

Multi-media Conceptual artist Yoko Ono will be honored at the tenth annual Women in the Arts luncheon today, November 15, 2012. Proceeds from the event will benefit the many educational and artistic programs offered by the Brooklyn Museum and its Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art.

The Jewish Museum Announces Exhibition Featuring Manuscripts from England's Bodleian Library; Opens 9/14

England's Bodleian Library at Oxford University, established by Sir Thomas Bodley in 1602 and now the largest of the University's group of 'Bodleian Libraries', is home to a collection of medieval Hebrew illuminated manuscripts. The Jewish Museum will present Crossing Borders: Manuscripts from the Bodleian Libraries from September 14, 2012 through February 3, 2013. This exhibition will feature over 60 works - Hebrew, Arabic, and Latin manuscripts - the majority of which have never been seen in the United States. Several paintings and printed books will also be on view.

Tift Merritt Announces TRAVELING ALONE Album, New Tour

Tift Merritt's highly anticipated Yep Roc Records label debut Traveling Alone is due October 2. The album was recorded in Brooklyn with Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, My Morning Jacket, Spoon) and features a guest appearance by Andrew Bird as well as performances by Marc Ribot, Rob Burger (Lucinda Williams, Iron & Wine, Rufus Wainwright), John Convertino (Calexico), Eric Heywood (The Jayhawks, Son Volt, Alejandro Escovedo) and Merritt's longtime collaborator Jay Brown.

Yesterday, May 16, Lincoln Center unveiled its brand new space, The Claire Tow Theatre. This latest theatrical venue on the complex will be the new home to LCT's programming initiative LCT3. It is now also the centerpiece of a $42 million, 23,000 square foot structure on the roof of the Vivian Beaumont Theater which also includes rehearsal and office space. It is the first live performance theater to open at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in over 40 years.

Columbia University School of the Arts will hold its Celebration of Graduates at 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, in Miller Theatre on the Morningside Campus. Opening to the public May 5, 2012, the exhibition Helmut Lang: Sculptures will present a series of enigmatic recent works from the artist's ongoing explorations into the liminal realm between abstraction and figuration. Co-curated by Mark Fletcher and Neville Wakefield, the exhibition will go on view at 24 Washington Square North and include more than twenty new sculptures by the artist.
