Omaha Performing Arts is proud to announce that the Orpheum Theater and Holland Performing Arts Center are once again listed among the top theatre venues in the world for the Pollstar Midyear Worldwide Ticket Sales report. The Orpheum Theater was ranked 50th and the Holland Center was ranked 98th for ticket sales among theatres of any size worldwide.

Omaha Performing Arts' 2015/2016 Season will include a celebration of the organization's 10th anniversary, Celebrate 10. Details on the festivities as well as the 15/16 Season were announced during a subscriber and patron event at the Holland Performing Arts Center on March 23. Special performances by cast members of Disney's NEWSIES and Celia Hottenstein and Eric Ruiz, who star as Christina and Raoul in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, were part of the announcement. The dance troupe BANDALOOP opened the event with an awe-inspiring aerial performance.

Omaha Performing Arts Make $39.54 Million Impact on County

Omaha Performing Arts' activities have had a $39.54 million economic impact on Douglas County, according to an updated study conducted for the non-profit performing arts organization. Results of the study were presented today by Joan Squires, president of Omaha Performing Arts, at the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors' meeting.

The phenomenon returned after record-breaking runs in 2009 and 2011 and made a significant impact on the local economy by generating $15.5 million in economic benefit to Omaha. Disney Honors Omaha Performing Arts for Successful Runs of THE LION KING and More

Omaha Performing Arts received a special tribute from Disney Theatrical Productions to commemorate years of successful engagements in Omaha, including the recent record-breaking return of Disney's THE LION KING. Omaha is one of the first cities in the United States to receive this recognition. A handcrafted lioness mask was specially made for the occasion and is a replica of the one originally created by renowned designer, Michael Curry and the Tony-Award winning director of Disney's The Lion King, Julie Taymor. This rare award is Disney's method of honoring outstanding achievement by the presenting organizations in markets where the production has played.

Disney's THE LION KING continues to reign across North America with a sold-out, record-breaking engagement in Omaha which concluded on Sunday, April 7, at the Orpheum Theater. The return four-week run grossed $5,621,022 million at the box office and entertained more than 79,000 patrons, breaking the Orpheum Theater's house record and making it the highest-grossing theatrical production in Omaha history. This bests the previous Orpheum Theater record, also set by THE LION KING, when this production grossed $5,506,480 during its five-week engagement in 2007.

THE LION KING North American Tour Opens Tonight in Omaha

The Omaha return of Disney's THE LION KING opens tonight, Thursday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Orpheum Theater for a limited engagement of four weeks through Sunday, April 7. In Omaha, THE LION KING plays Tuesdays through Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Matinee performances are Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. and Sundays at 1:00 p.m. There will also be a special matinee at 2:00 pm. on Thursday, April 4. "Omahans are welcoming back this wonderful show in a big way," Joan Squires, President of Omaha Performing Arts said. "Thus far sales have exceeded our expectations but there are still good seats available," she added. "We have seats throughout the run of the show but especially in the later weeks, so check with our box office for best available seating."

The Broadway Dreams Foundation presented their Third Annual New York Benefit Performance at the Florence Gould Hall (55 East 59th Street) on Monday, November 21, 2011.
