The LACNA Foundation, a not-for-profit leadership development organization formed by a coalition of 50 of the largest performing arts centers (PACs) in the U.S. and Canada, today announced the 2023 cohort of fellows who will take part in the organization's BIPOC Executive Leadership in the Arts Program.

Omaha Performing Arts unveiled the name for their new live music venue, which will open in mid-2023, during a groundbreaking ceremony. The new live music venue is part of the planned expansion of O-pa's arts and entertainment campus near the Holland Performing Arts Center and will provide flexible space to accommodate audiences of 1,500 to 3,000.

The Broadway League has announced that after an extensive nationwide search conducted by Arts Consulting Group, Gennean Scott will join the trade organization as the first Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. She will officially start on July 6, 2021.

The touring Broadway production of COME FROM AWAY which recently performed in Omaha helped raise $75,000 for flood relief in Nebraska and Southwest Iowa. The producers of COME FROM AWAY, Omaha Performing Arts, and Broadway Across America, along with audience members who attended the show are donating $75,000 for flood relief to the American Red Cross of Nebraska and Southwest Iowa.

Omaha Performing Arts will add five additional public elementary schools in Omaha, Council Bluffs and the surrounding area to the 2018 - 2019 Disney Musicals in Schools program. Omaha Performing Arts will provide schools with resources and support to produce their very own 30 - minute Disney KIDS musicals in 2019 at no cost.

Joan Squires, Omaha Performing Arts president, has been elected to a two-year term on the Broadway League's 49-member Board of Governors. The New York-based national trade association has more than 700 members that include theatre owners, operators, producers, presenters and general managers in North American cities. Each year League members bring Broadway to more than 30 million people in New York and more than 200 cities across the U.S. and Canada.

Musical America magazine has named Joan Squires, president of Omaha Performing Arts, one of 30 U.S. professionals they call Movers and Shapers for 2017. The award is a tribute to Squires' pioneering leadership and the continued growth and success of Omaha Performing Arts' programming and services. She and other performing arts professionals across the county were honored in a special edition of the magazine.

Celebrate Broadway's biggest night of the year when Omaha Performing Arts hosts its first annual Tony Awards party Sunday, June 11 from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM at the Holland Performing Arts Center.

The annual Broadway League Awards, honoring excellence and achievement for Touring Broadway, were announced on Tuesday, May 16 during the Broadway League's 2017 Spring Road Conference. First presented in 1992, the Broadway League Awards recognize the contributions of those who have displayed exemplary service to the Broadway industry and are considered innovators of their craft.
