The colorful and complex true story of six-time world champion prizefighter Emile Griffith is told in Man in the Ring, a new play written by Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Cristofer, directed by Michael Greif, and presented by the Huntington Theatre Company from Nov. 16 to Dec. 22, 2018 at the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts.  Imbued with the warmth of Griffith's character and the joyful music of his childhood home, Man in the Ring chronicles Griffith's sweeping life story, from his humble beginnings in the Virgin Islands to his passionate love affairs and the tragedy that changed his life.

 A new independent feature film is about to be made in the beautiful, yet rarely used for feature film production, state of New Hampshire. PARALLEL AMERICA, written by Ernest Thompson, Oscar® & Golden Globe® winner for his screenplay of On Golden Pond,  Ernest will also direct and star in the film. The cast includes Gordon Clapp (Emmy® winner, NYPD Blue & Tony® Award nominee, Glengarry Glen Ross), critically acclaimed actress Lisa Bostnar, actor/singer John Davidson and theatre legend Alvin Epstein (originated the role of Lucky on Broadway in Waiting for Godot).

Northern Stage announces its 2018-19 Season, a season of plays connected by a theme of peace in a turbulent world. The main stage season is sponsored by Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital and begins with a rotating repertory of the 2017 Tony Award-winner for Best Play, Oslo by J.T. Rogers, and Sarah Ruhl's Dear Elizabeth. Inspired by the 1993 Oslo Peace Accords between the Israelis and Palestinians, Oslo is a deeply personal story about the individuals behind an historic peace negotiation and their all-too-human ambitions.

Award-winning Boston playwright Jack Neary's play First Night will be presented as a reading at the River Street Theatre (RST), a project of The Park Theatre, in Jaffrey on Saturday, September 1 at 2pm. Admission is free.

It's Academic is an evening of one act plays centered on the theme of education and academia. Performances at the Hatbox Theatre, located at the Steeplegate Mall (by Bon Ton's), Concord, NH. Production runs July 27 through August 5. Showtimes are 7:30 pm Friday and Saturday, and 2pm on Sunday. Northern Stage is pleased to announce its fifth annual New Works Now, a showcase and celebration of new plays to be presented January 19-21 at the Barrette Center for the Arts. Inaugurated in 2014, New Works Now presents rehearsed staged readings of plays new to the American theater. New Works Now 5.0 will include three staged readings, each featuring a post-show conversation with the playwrights, actors, and directors. A fourth off-site 10-minute play will be presented twice at two different area businesses during the festival weekend.

The Pussycat Foundation, established in the spirit of Cosmopolitan Magazine editor Helen Gurley Brown, has awarded Northern Stage's Producing Artistic Director Carol Dunne a Genius Grant of $250,000 for her achievements in theater arts, recognizing her as a pioneering artist and artistic director. The Pussycat Foundation awards Genius Grants to individuals who dedicate their lives to transformative work with bold leadership and vision. The dollars awarded to Carol are split evenly between Northern Stage and the New London Barn Playhouse, which Carol led from 2008-2014.

The Nora Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Alan Brody's THE MIDVALE HIGH SCHOOL FIFTIETH REUNION, a light-hearted, evocative trip down Memory Lane with the Class of 1954. Directed by Lee Mikeska Gardner, Emmy-winning actor Gordon Clapp and Underground Railway Theater Artistic Director Debra Wise portray two classmates returning to their alma mater for the first time. Neither is sure of what they're looking for, but they hope they'll recognize it if they find it.

The Nora Theatre Company will present the world premiere of Alan Brody's The Midvale High School Fiftieth Reunion from June 1 - July 2, 2017. The Midvale High School Fiftieth Reunion is directed by Lee Mikeska Gardner. The press performance is Monday, June 5 at 7:30PM.
