In keeping with their mission of supporting emerging writers, the Dramatists Guild Foundation (DGF) hosted some award-winning student writers at their recent gala in New York City. The winners of theNext Generation Works Thespian Playworks and Thespian Musicalworks writing competitions for members of the International Thespian Society (ITS) were the Foundation's guests at the invitation of Rachel Routh, DGF Executive Director.

The Tank (Meghan Finn and Rosalind Grush, Artistic Directors) will present the world premiere of Kev Berry's THE ORANGE TERROR CYCLE, PART 1: CHAPTERS 1-20 directed by Alex Tobey. The cast will include Kev Berry, Alejandro Cervantes, Rachel Horwitz, and Teresa Langford. Performances are November 11 and 12 at 7:00 PM. On November 1st, The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival, headquartered in Auburn, N.Y., will begin accepting submissions for new musicals in all stages of development to be considered for the 2019 season of The PiTCH. The PiTCH is a new works series offering residency and retreat for creative teams, and the opportunity to develop and "pitch" their new musical to engaged and enthusiastic audiences. Teams benefit from dialogue and feedback immediately following their "pitch." Submission deadline is Nov. 30, 2018.

Last night, the 2017-2018 class of Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellows presented excerpts of full length works at Playwrights Horizons at 7:00 PM. This presentation caps off a year spent working under the tutelage of Michael Korie (War Paint), Laurence O'Keefe (Heathers), Diana Son (Stop Kiss), and Sheri Wilner (Kingdom City).

In addition to celebrating one of American theater's most-beloved creators, the evening will shine a light on two esteemed patrons of the arts: Estee Lauder Companies' Executive Group President John Demsey and Chairman of Douglas Elliman's Retail Group Faith Hope Consolo.
