Big news today in the world of music! Universal Music Group (UMG) has named renowned producers David Blackman and Scott Landis to lead its development and production of film, television and theatrical projects. Their appointments are effective immediately, and both report jointly to UMG Executive Vice President Michele Anthony and Universal Music Publishing Group Chairman and CEO Jody Gerson, reflecting the unique and important role that publishing and recorded music play in creating film, television and theatrical properties.

On Your Feet!, the new Broadway musical based on the life story of seven-time GRAMMY winning international superstar Gloria Estefan and her husband, nineteen-time GRAMMY winning producer-musician-entrepreneur Emilio Estefan. On Your Feet! is currently in previews for an opening on Broadway on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Marquis Theatre. Producers Tom Kirdahy, Tom Smedes, Hugh Hayes and Judith Ann Abrams announced today that John Kander and Fred Ebb's final Broadway musical, The Visit, featuring a book by four-time Tony Award winning playwright Terrence McNally, will open on Broadway this Spring, starring two-time Tony Award winning Broadway legend Chita Rivera and Tony Award winner Roger Rees. Helmed by Tony Award winning director John Doyle and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Graciela Daniele, The Visit will begin performances at the Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45th Street) on Thursday, March 26 with an Opening Night set for Thursday, April 23.

The Off Broadway Alliance, the organization of Off Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents, and marketing professionals, presented the 4th annual Off Broadway Alliance Awards June 17th at Sardi's. Honorees were on hand to receive their awards and Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ruth Maleczech and Nicholas Martin were posthumously inducted into the Off Broadway Hall of Fame.

An historic moment: Broadway star Norm Lewis and award-winning composer Andrew Lloyd Webber met for the first time on stage at THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA at The Majestic Theatre, yesterday, April 3, 2014. Lewis will make history on May 12, 2014 when he becomes the first African-American performer to assume the title role in the composer's legendary musical. PHANTOM is the longest-running musical in Broadway history; worldwide, it is the highest-grossing theatrical production of all time.

Last night, May 9, Daniel Radcliffe sat down with Jordan Roth at the 92nd Street Y to talk about the end of Harry Potter, How to Succeed in Business and, yes, the elephant on the Great White Way: his Tony nomination snub. As reported in Entertainment Weekly, when asked about his initial feelings towards being left off the Tony list, Radcliffe - ever the showman - reportedly responded: 'The thing that shocked me was everybody else's reaction to me, and how they started treating me - because it was like I lost a relative,' said Radcliffe. 'In my opinion, it was sweet, but over the top. People would ask me, ‘Are you OK?' And I'd go, ‘I'm really OK!'...The people that do this job for awards and recognition are kind of worshiping at the wrong altar, and I'm not really quite sure if I want to know those people.'

Sanjaya Malakar was one of the most memorable contestants during Season 6 of 'American Idol.' Since then, he went on to tour with the top 10 finalists from his season, wrote a book, 'Dancing in the Music in My Head,' and released an EP. Malakar is now making his New York stage debut in the off-Broadway hit musical, Freckleface Strawberry, at New World Stages. The musical is based on the popular children's book by Julianne Moore.

He took his first bows alongside SPRING AWAKENING alum Remy Zaken, who joined the cast on February 4th.

Up and coming singer/actors (and identical twins) Will Nunziata and Anthony Nunziata, have joined creative forces with popular director Richard Jay-Alexander on a new concert/cabaret act to debut at Feinstein's at the Loews Regency in New York City. The Feinstein's dates are set for Monday September 21st and Monday October 5th, 2009, as part of the prestigious monday night series and, in this particular instance, with a personal invitation from the club's John Iachetti - who put the boys together with their director.
