Director and choreographer, Austin McCormick is the founder behind Brooklyn's Neo-Baroque performance space, Company XIV which incorporates everything from burlesque to ballet, opera, and drag. To get in the holiday season, the company is now showcasing Nutcracker Rouge. BroadwayWorld.com spoke with Austin about the gender-bending act, his company, and where he can be found when he's not working.

Company XIV, which recently presented their acclaimed production of Ferdinand: Boylesque Bullfight, will open a return engagement of their hit holiday spectacular Nutcracker Rouge at Theatre XIV (383 Troutman Street, Bushwick, Brooklyn) on Sunday, November 18th at 6 pm. Previews begin Friday, November 9. The engagement will run through January 13th.

Well, no one could accuse the opening of the Met's new season, with Darko Trasnjak's production of Saint-Saens' SAMSON ET DALILA, to Ferdinand Lemaire's libretto, of being drab. Starry, certainly. Over the top, definitely. Filled with feathers, absolutely. Call it “Crazy, Rich Philistines.”
A New Production Of Saint-Saens's Samson ET DALILA Opens The Metropolitan Opera's 2018-19 Season

The Metropolitan Opera will open its 134th season on Monday, September 24, with a new production of Saint-Saens's biblical tragedy Samson et Dalila, conducted by Sir Mark Elder and starring El?na Garan?a and Roberto Alagna, last seen together at the Met in acclaimed performances of Bizet's Carmen. Laurent Naouri co-stars as the High Priest opposite Elchin Azizov as the Philistine King Abimelech and Dmitry Belosselskiy as the Old Hebrew. Making his Met debut, Tony Award-winner Darko Tresnjak directs the first new Met production of the opera in 20 years. The opening performance will be simulcast live to Times Square, and the October 20 matinee will be seen throughout the world, as part of The Met: Live in HD series.

Company XIV announces their 2018-2019 season kicking off with the return engagement of Ferdinand: Boylesque Bullfight inspired by the story of Ferdinand the Bull. This mix of dance and theater will be presented at their home, Theatre XIV, 383 Troutman Street in Bushwick (L Train to Jefferson Street stop). Previews will begin on September 6th, 2018 with official opening night set for Sunday, September 9th (8 PM). Ferdinand will play through October 28th.

Tommy Tune joined the all-male cast (and one woman!) of dancers and performers on stage at Company XIV's summer striptease show "Boylesque Bullfight" at Theatre XIV in Bushwick. After the show he congratulated the "amazing" dancers and raved about the choreography to Company XIV's Artistic Director and Choreographer Austin McCormick.

Susan Sarandon was joined by some very buff dancers as she made the scene in Bushwick to catch Company XIV's acclaimed new show "Boylesque Bullfight"based on the tale of Ferdinand the Bull at Theatre XIV. The 39th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards for the 2017-2018 season were handed out in a star-studded ceremony in Toronto on the evening of Monday, June 25 at the Winter Garden Theatre of the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, hosted by acclaimed actor Astrid Van Wieren, currently starring on Broadway in the award-winning Canadian musical Come From Away.
