Spectacular party scenes, gorgeous period costumes, and show-stopping arias bring 1850s Paris to lavish life in Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata. The production marks the first in-person opera performances staged at the Canadian Opera Company’s downtown opera house since the beginning of the pandemic.

Goldstar has announced Company XIV has won the Goldstar National Nutcracker Award, the “Nutty” for 2021. This year, they competed along with more than 60 companies to win the only award honoring live performances of The Nutcracker nationwide.  Company XIV previously won this honor in 2017.

We sat down with founder and director Austin McCormick of Théâtre XIV to chat about the reopening, Nutcracker Rouge, and what’s to come.
