Company XIV's Baroque Burlesque Seven Sins recently reopened at Théâtre XIV in Bushwick after being shut down due to the pandemic. We sat down with Austin McCormick (Director/Choreographer), Pretty Lamé (The Devil), and LEXXE (Original Music) to chat about the reopening of Seven Sins, the training that goes into it, and what's next for each of them.

As someone who has indulged in all the creations concocted by the genius director/choreographer Austin McCormick for his spectacular mix of performing artists, Company XIV, since the early years of this century when they displayed their talents in modestly-scaled productions on East 4th Street, this reviewer will say without hesitation that SEVEN SINS, a lavish feast of biblical misbehaviors, is their most gloriously achieved blending of athleticism, artistry and eroticism.

The newest opera from creator and librettist Cerise Jacobs and her activist opera company, White Snake Projects, is titled Cosmic Cowboy: a work of poli sci-fi that blends ancient history and fantasy to talk about the subject of colonization.

Company XIV has announced a nine-week extension for their acclaimed world premiere of QUEEN OF HEARTS, conceived, choreographed and directed by Drama Desk Award nominee Austin McCormick. Company XIV, which recently presented their acclaimed sold out engagement of Nutcracker Rouge, announces their next production, the world-premiere of Queen of Hearts which will begin performances on Thursday, March 29th with an opening night set for Thursday, April 11th. Director and choreographer, Austin McCormick is the founder behind Brooklyn's Neo-Baroque performance space, Company XIV which incorporates everything from burlesque to ballet, opera, and drag. To get in the holiday season, the company is now showcasing Nutcracker Rouge. Since family-friendly entertainments tend to dominate the holiday performing arts scene, it's especially cheery that for the past nine years that scandalous crew called Company XIV has been offering grownups an option that's decidedly more naughty than nice.
