Detroit local playwright Sean Paraventi will bring his latest comedy, Material Advantage, to the Matrix Theatre in March. The play is all about family – although the family at its center is anything but traditional.

Since Peter Pan first appeared on stage in London in 1904, we’ve been delighted by his “never grow up” antics. Theatre NOVA, Ann Arbor's professional theatre with an exclusive focus on new plays and playwrights, presents their semi-annual Michigan Playwrights Festival, now in its fourth year. Five new plays by Michigan playwrights will be given readings March 6-10, 2019.

Matrix Theatre Company closes its 2017 - 2018 Mainstage Season with the political drama, Church & State, opening June 8 and running through July 1. In what has become a Slipstream tradition, September brings the world premiere of an original play, A Night of Stars with Tennessee Williams. Join us for a tour of famous and infamous stars, led by a man admired by more stars than any other: the one and only Tennessee Williams! Appearances on the tour include Elizabeth Taylor, Marlon Brando, Bette Davis, Truman Capote, Katharine Hepburn, and many more along the way. As in all good tours, the history becomes almost more realistic than the present as the ghosts from the past materialize as flesh and blood. Written by Wilde Award-winner Maxim Vinogradov, this script recently won the Hopwood Award in Drama as well as the Dennis McIntyre Prize.

Detroit's newest professional theatre isn't playing it safe for its debut production. The Assembly Line Theatre Company has chosen to present the world premiere of FWP (F---ing White People), an edgy, bitingly funny new work from Detroit playwright Sean Paraventi.

Planet Ant will close out its 2016-17 season with the musical play, Failure: A Love Story by Phillip Dawkins April 28 - May 20.

Stage Left Theatre announces Drekfest 2017, which performs on Tuesday, March 28th at 7:30pm at CSz Theatre, 929 W Belmont. Stage Left is proud to again partner with CSz Chicago for DrekFest 2017. CSz team members will be joining Stage Left company members and guest artists in staging the four finalists.

On Friday, January 6th Open Book Theatre Company will present a night of Improvisation.  The show will be hosted by Jaclynn Cherry and Sean Paraventi two actors who have worked numerous times with Open Book and are well known throughout Detroit for their work in the improv community, most notably with Comedy Sportz and the Planet Ant.  The night will include other special guests and an opportunity for audience participation. 

After the success of Theatre Nova's inaugural Michigan Playwright's festival in December 2015, they are hosting the second annual Playwright's festival. This year the festival will run from October 18th-October 22nd. They are pleased to announce the selected playwrights and schedule for performances.
