BWW Review: 10X10 NEW PLAY FESTIVAL at Barrington Stage Company Serves Up A Theatrical Smorgasbord In The Midst of Winter.

There is something for everyone in this offering. As the event's title suggests, rather than a single fully produced multi-act production, audience members are served ten small plates, each one running about ten minutes by an ensemble cast of six that includes BSC returnees Peggy Pharr Wilson, Keri Safran, Robert Zukerman and welcomes Sarah Goeke, Michael Fell and Deshawn Mitchell. Directing credits are split equally between BSC Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and returning for his third year, Matthew Penn each responsible for five of the pieces.

BWW Review: BEAUTIFUL THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL at Robinson Performance Hall

Stellar cast, Incredible singing and Songs that you never forgot and never will. Beautiful is an absolute joy of a musical story, that is so full of music, drama and comedy that you will feel like it was over way too soon.

BWW Review: BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL at Victoria Theatre Association

Whether you are new to the music of Carole King or she is an old favorite, do yourself a favor and go see BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL this weekend at the Schuster Center for the Performing Arts.

BWW Review: BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL at Times Union Theater

More often than not, I go to a show and sit through the entire thing with the biggest grin on my face. Beautiful: The Carole King Musical was no exception. The musical is the type where I did not want it to be over as the curtain closed. The Tony nominated musical chronicles Carole Klein's, later known as Carole King, early music career as a composer at the young age of 17. She meets Gerry Goffin in college where they form not only a musical partnership, but a romantic relationship. The duo wrote some of the most iconic songs of the 50's and 60's, so much so that the audience was cheering when just a few notes were played from these songs. Beautiful depicts the growth of careers, beginnings of friendships, and end of relationships in the most extraordinary way. Every performance was absolutely stunning and wonderful.

Exceptional Cast Brings Carole King's Beautiful To Life

BWW Review: BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL at Providence Performing Arts Center

BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL playing right now at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) is the most jukebox of juke box musicals. With a book by Douglas McGrath, it tells the story of King's life and career using songs that she wrote, often together wither sometimes partner and spouse Gerry Goffin, and other contemporary songs by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, Phil Spector and others. What makes it the 'most juke box?' In a play that runs two and a half hours (including intermission), the very talented cast performs over twenty-five songs. Why so many songs? It's a play about songwriters whose best friends are songwriters, who among them wrote some of the most popular songs of the sixties and seventies. With so many songs to cover, McGrath let the music carry the first act and left the story of King's metamorphosis from composer to singer songwriter to Act 2. Somebody is doing something right because BEAUTIFUL opened on Broadway in January of 2014 and has been running ever since. This stop in Providence is the second in our fair city since it went on tour in 2015. As near as I could tell, everybody present had a helluva time last night.

BWW Review: BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROL KING MUSICAL at Broadway Across America

I think we all felt the earth move a little bit at Clowes Hall this week. Beautiful, the musical of Carol King's life, is on stage now. The singer/composer famous for hits like 'It's Too Late' and 'You've Got a Friend' had a incredible career and the musical chronicles her rise to stardom in the 1960s.

BWW Review: BEAUTIFUL-THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL is Some Kind of Wonderful at California Musical Theatre

Beautiful-The Carole King Musical is more than a jukebox musical. It's a very personal glimpse into the life of a woman who shaped American music. It's a story of sanguinity, heartbreak, and redemption. Carole King's tale is touching and empowering and will resonate with anyone who has ever had their heart broken.

Industry Editor Exclusive: Inside THE RIDE's Theatrical Quest to Take Over the Streets of NYC & Beyond

In summer 2010, something described in a Variety article as a 'melding of a Broadway show and a Gray Line bus tour' was announced and I was very confused. And maybe appalled. In late fall of that year, when the giant buses labelled THE RIDE hit the streets, none of these feelings subsided. Now, seven years later, THE RIDE is a hard-to-describe but well-known fixture on New York City streets, even being parodied on THE SIMPSONS and, more recently, DIFFICULT PEOPLE. Yet, despite the long lines to board, it still has yet to make money.

BWW Review: National Tour of BEAUTIFUL Enchants Audiences at OKC Broadway

BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL is one of the increasingly common type of shows the jukebox musical yet, BEAUTIFUL raises the expectations of what a jukebox musical can be. The story revolves around Carole King, whom Sarah Bockel portrays to gawky, effervescent perfection. BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL continues OKC Broadway's reputation of bringing in top-notch performances to Oklahoma City.
