Actors' Theatre of Columbus will return to its summer home of Schiller Park with a 41st anniversary season that embraces community, the families we choose, and finding a place to call home.

Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz. The Tragedy of Macbeth, King of Scotland is one of a handful of William Shakespeare's plays that has never wavered in its popularity or relevance. Led by supernatural forces, Macbeth kills a king and usurps the throne, each day growing in paranoia and bloody murder. His wife, the famous Lady Macbeth, guides and goads her lord husband in his evil acts until the consequences begin to break her soul. The Tragedy of Macbeth is a story of witches, dread, and murder most foul. Performances are May 24 - June 17, 2018. Thursdays through Sundays @ 8pm. Columbus Children's Theatre will present Mr. Scrooge Nov 24 - Dec 23 at the Park Street Theatre located at 512 Park Street. This production is directed by William Goldsmith.

Aphra Behn's 1687 comedy is a zany blend of commedia dell'arte, music, and science fiction. Servants and lovers run wild in this play which was hugely successful in the English Restoration Period. Behn's work has been described as "an affordable mini-spectacle," and she is considered one of the great women playwrights in all of classic theatre. Performances are July 20 thru August 6, 2017. A distinguished politician's youthful indiscretions come to light in 'An Ideal Husband,' Oscar Wilde's sophisticated satire. Sir Robert Chiltern's political career and marriage are put to the test as the true nature of his virtue is revealed. His problem is compounded by his wife's intolerance of the slightest character flaw. Wilde's classic comedy features two of his best characters, the deliciously sly Mrs. Cheveley and the wonderfully witty Lord Goring.
