The series is based on Glenn Burke, who was the first MLB player to come out as gay to his teammates and team owners during his professional career. Burke was also the first to publicly acknowledge his sexuality, before dying of AIDS in 1995.

Shakespeare Orange County will begin its 2014 season on Saturday, May 10, with a celebrity filled fundraiser, A Night with the Stars. The night will be filled with live music, an auction, dinner, and a live 1940's style radio show with all proceeds going towards SOC's new children's program and upcoming season. The fundraiser dinner begins at 6:15 p.m. with the live radio show at 8 p.m. and a private reception immediately following the performance.

The Golden Gays Announce New Cast Member and Charitable Beneficiaries for 2010 Tour
"The Golden Gays", this fall's runaway hit Drag Musical Spoof and Tribute is back in 2010 with their first tour. Along with the tour comes some exciting additions. Vic Carmona will play the twisted Therapist who suggests "Drag Therapy" to his 4 patients and sets up the original plot for this new tribute. In addition to the LifeGroup Los Angeles, the show will add some other charities including the Aids Assistance Program ( Palm Springs), and Certified Humane (Humane Farm Animal Care Nationwide). The show runs in Los Angeles for six performances only: January 22nd,23rd,24th, 29th, 30th, and 31st. It then moves on to Palm Springs for 3 performances February 5th, 6th and 7th. Though The Metropolitan Room's fine martini selection always suits my refreshment needs very nicely, on Monday night I was feeling a severe hankering for something their bar doesn't stock, PBR in a can. That's because I was having a swell ol' time watching Daryl Glenn, Jo Lynn Burks and company singing the entire soundtrack to Robert Altman's 1975 drama, Nashville.
