Cleveland Height resident Eric Coble is the area's most prolific and successful contemporary playwright. His scripts have been produced locally, as well as on- and off -Broadway, and at a significant number of national theaters.

Tanya Barfield, author of THE CALL, which is now on stage at Dobama Theatre, didn't want to write the play. She stated in a December, 2012 interview, 'Without realizing what I was doing, I pointedly and stubbornly refused. . . What I knew-what I was known for-were plays about the African-American experience through history. I did not want to write a contemporary play, a play close to me, a play about adoption.'

The producers of KRIS KRINGLE The Musical the new Broadway-bound production being developed in Cleveland, have announced the creative team, cast and performance schedule for its premiere.

Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) Executive Artistic Director, Raymond Bobgan presents Pandemonium 2015-CPT's annual benefit and theatrical spectacular-on Saturday, September 12, 2015. The Pandemonium 2015 theme is 'Transform.'

Pulitzer Prize winner Paula Vogel is noted for crafting play scripts which impact directly on the lives of people. A review of her works illustrates that she writes about issues that need to be expressed (AIDS, sexual abuse, prostitution, degradation of the individual), she favors writing about emotional circumstances which she expresses in narrative structures, and her works contain theatrical requirements that make for better viewing, than reading.

CROWNS tells an important story of perseverance and faith among the women of the Southern African American community, as represented by their 'hatitude.' The Karamu production, which has some strong performances, is somewhat tarnished by some directorial decisions, but is worth seeing.
