Kentucky Shakespeare receives a second significant donation from the Kansas City-based Theater League, bolstering its efforts to bring Shakespeare's timeless works to a wider audience.

Kentucky Shakespeare, the Official Shakespeare Festival of the Commonwealth, has announced the 64th annual free Kentucky Shakespeare Festival May 29-August 11, 2024, at the C. Douglas Ramey Amphitheater in Old Louisville's Central Park. Learn more about the season here!

After selling out all four weeks of the October run of their production of The Woman in Black, Kentucky Shakespeare has added an additional fifth week of the run October 30-November 5.

Playhouse Pantomimes returns to the Doncaster Playhouse for the first time since January 2020, with an original musical adaptation of 'Alice in Wonderland', written by Blake Everett, with music and lyrics by Blake Everett and Matt Wallace.

Kentucky Shakespeare returns with the free SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARKS tour this spring. The 7-actor, 85-minute production of HAMLET will tour to multiple parks in Indiana and Kentucky this April and May.

Patrick Flick, Executive Director of the Shakespeare Theatre Association (STA) and Mark Edelman, founder and president of Theater League, Inc, a Kansas City, Missouri, based contributor to the performing arts, announced that the League will be gifting thirty-five Shakespeare Theatres across the United States and internationally with a grant of $255,000 in general operating support.

Continuing their tradition of a fall performance for Halloween, Kentucky Shakespeare presents an immersive new production inside their headquarters in Old Louisville. Kentucky Shakespeare commissioned playwrights Diana Grisanti and Steve Moulds to create this hour-long event, conceived by the pair with Producing Artistic Director and director of the production, Matt Wallace. Utilizing silent disco headphone technology, audience members will move throughout this interactive experience inspired by Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

Joe Calarco’s R&J re-imagines the classic story of history’s famous doomed lovers as a modern coming-of-age tale in this co-production between Kentucky Shakespeare and Pandora Productions, Louisville’s only theatre company exclusively dedicated to telling stories of LGBTQ+ communities.

The Revelries began as the brainchild of the vocalist/guitarist Beau Bailey in his dorm room during the fall of 2016 at Louisiana State University. They worked to transform their band into its own version of high-energy, U.K.-style Pop-Rock performing to audiences in local Baton Rouge dive bars to private events to venues across the Southeast.

Today, EDGEOUT Records and The Revelries released “Troublemaker,” the fifth original song to be released by the band via EDGEOUT Records. The Revelries bring full-sounding, guitar-driven Pop-Rock that recalls the sound and influence of successful Eighties Arena Rock, Power-Pop and Alternative artists. The full-length album is due out this year. It will be produced by Grammy winner Matt Wallace (The Replacements, Faith No More). 

Winners have been announced for the 2021 BroadwayWorld Louisville Awards. The 2021 Regional Awards honor productions which had their first performance between October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2021.
