BWW Review: Stratford Festival's HMS PINAFORE Hits the High Seas, High Notes, and High Marks

Gilbert and Sullivan's HMS PINAFORE is gracing the Stratford Festival stage for the first time in 25 years and only the fourth time in the history of the festival. Mounted at the Avon Theatre, directed by Lezlie Wade, and choreographed by Kerry Gage, this production possesses the perfect balance of fun, ridiculousness and sentiment. The music is gorgeous, the company is brilliant and as a whole, it is simply delightful.

BWW Reviews: ELF, From the North Pole to New York

Elf, the Christmas musical now on stage at London's Grand Theatre is an endearing show, thanks to a funny, well-written script, and a six foot four Elf who can deliver the lines. Liam Tobin is perfect as Buddy the Elf: He's taken the best that Will Ferrell had in the movie version of Elf, but his portrayal of the 30 year old child-like character is more reminiscent of Tom Hanks in 1988 movie Big. Either way, Tobin has made Buddy very lovable and almost believable.

The show is very unique in that it comprises a lot of children, some very young. Natali Ioffe is one of the three actresses who share the role of Gretl, the youngest of the Von Trapp children. She also the only Gretl to be with the production since it opened over fifteen months ago. Natali took a few minutes (with the help of her Mom) to talk to BWW about what it is like being in a large scale production at such a young age.
