The Suncoast Black Arts Collaborative, a nonprofit organization that promotes using the unifying power of the arts to nurture inclusion and diversity, presented the Arts and Racial Justice Discovery Series II on November 13 at Florida Studio Theater in Sarasota.

For the past 18 years, Choral Artists of Sarasota has celebrated America's freedom and independence with a July 4th concert of rousing, patriotic songs. According to Joseph Holt, the artistic director and conductor of Choral Artists of Sarasota, this may be area audiences' final opportunity to experience the group's beloved Independence Day concert. 

SILL's popular Music Mondays series entitled “Musical Conversations with Great Performers” features informal performances and lively conversations with renowned performers of all disciplines.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County recently granted $15,000, from the Martha Leiter and Nancy Streetman Fund II, to Choral Artists of Sarasota to help fund its March 2023 concert of “The Children's March,” a dramatic work that uses song and narration to tell the story of a pivotal moment in the Civil Rights era.

2023 marks the 52nd anniversary of Sarasota Institute of Lifetime Learning's (SILL) “Global Issues” series. This hard-hitting series, which runs January 10-March 31, features 25 internationally renowned experts discussing a vast range of domestic and global issues.

Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota will present 25 concerts during its 27th season, Ever Onward. The season – sponsored by Ernie Kretzmer – runs from October 2, 2022 through May 14, 2023 and offers a diverse range of musical experiences featuring emerging and established classical, jazz, pops, and chamber artists.

Choral Artists of Sarasota presents an exclusive Sarasota preview of 'Ann Morrison: Merrily From Center Stage,” Saturday, May 7, 7 p.m., at the home of John Fischer and Jim Weisenborne in Serenoa Lakes south of Sarasota. Tickets for this fundraiser for Choral Artists are $100 per person, which includes light food and beverages.

Choral Artists of Sarasota’s 43rd season, entitled “Carried Away!” continues with the long-awaited world premiere of “Listen to the Earth,” Sunday, April 24, 5 p.m., at the Sarasota Opera House. The concert showcases “Listen to the Earth,” a symphonic choral cantata by James Grant, an award-winning composer and part-time Sarasota resident. Also featured on the program is the “Song of the Universal” by Ola Ojeilo, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “The Lark Ascending” and another work by James Grant, “Earth – Poem of Thanks to Our Common Home.”

Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota presents Taiwanese-American violinist Max Tan in performance with Joseph Holt, piano on Thursday, April 7 as part of the Lunch and Listen series at Bird Key Yacht Club, 301 Bird Key Drive, Sarasota.

Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota will present an evening of vocal jazz standards with BoyGirlBoyGirl, featuring Don Lobacz, Tommy Lueck, Laura Monagle and Michaela Ristaino, accompanied by Joseph Holt on piano, Wednesday, March 23, at Plantation Golf & Country Club, 500 Rockley Blvd., Venice. The performance is at 6 pm followed by dinner.

Dr. Joseph Holt will be stepping down as music director of Faith Lutheran Church in Sarasota. He will assume the role of artist in residence for the church, effective March 1, 2022. 

Choral Artists of Sarasota's 43rd season, “Carried Away,” continues with “She Is The Music,” Sunday, March 20, 2:30 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 2050 Oak Street, Sarasota.

The Choral Artists of Sarasota named its apprentice scholarship in honor of Dr. Ann Stephenson-Moe. The announcement was made on Saturday, January 22, at a reception hosted by Gretchen Rimmer. The reception was a fundraiser in support of Choral Artists’ education and outreach programs and the apprentice scholarship. The presentation celebrated Stephenson-Moe for her achievements and featured a performance by the New York-based Gilbert & Sullivan Players.
