Jonathan West BIO

Born and raised in Metro-Detroit, Jonathan began acting in July of 2009, when cast as 'Tim, Sr.' in Horizon Films "Happy Holiday." He has been in a number of independent feature length and short films since then, notably WCT Entertainment's feature film "Lovers and Friends" as the lead 'Marcus 'Duney' Smalls,'which debuted at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and is being distributed nationwide on DVD. Jonathan made his theatrical debut in December of 2009, at 1515 Broadway in Detroit, as 'Jonathan Lewis' in MLB Entertainment's "Shades of War," which had debuted earlier the same year off Broadway. Jonathan was brought back for a Detroit reprisal in October 2010, at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, but this time as the lead 'Samuel Francis.' He has also worked with Ann Arbor's Blackbird Theatre, as 'Sebastian' during their 2011 rendition of "Twelfth Night", and as 'Macduff' in their 2012 "Macbeth," both at Ann Arbor's West Park Bandshell. 2012 ended with Jonathan's first immersive performance, as the 'Drum Major' in The New Theatre Project's "Woyzeck" out of Ypsilanti's Mix Theater, and 2013 began with his next immersive performance as 'Rupert Bok' in the Loudermilk Production's "Under the Poppy," a site-specific immersive adaptation of the novel bearing the same name. Kathe Koja, the author and co-director, and Diane Cheklich, co-director, staged the adaptation at Detroit's Ginsberg House, made famous by the owner, Bernard Ginsberg, as well as tenant, Albert Kahn. Jonathan continued 2013 working with Ypsilanti's Threefold Productions as 'Titus Andronicus' in their 2013 adaptation, "Andronicus Bound," and opened The Ringwald Theatre's 2013-2014 season with "Wolves", as 'Wolf'. Reuniting with Loudermilk Production, he closed out 2013 in Michigan performing as 'Sin Lust' in their immersive, site specific adaption, "Faustus", set in a Detroit Unitarian Church. Jonathan began 2014 in New York, with Empirical Rogue's, theatre immersive "Suicide!?" as 'Alexander Bushkin', and in Big Intimacy Group's short play cycle "Autobahn", as the 'Husband' in the vignette "Autobahn". After working with Damon Horowitz and Sybille Bruun-Moss in The Oracular Theatre's "Julius Caesar", as 'Julius Caesar,' Jonathan was brought back to Michigan for Ann Arbor's Performance Network Theatre's "Richard III", as 'King Edward/Tyrrel/Cardinal Bourchier'. He completed work in 2014 at The Jewish Ensemble theatre with director Mary Bremer in "Enter Laughing," as Pike.

Jonathan now works as an actor, writer and director. He resides in New York City.
