White Theatre Presents Tony Winner THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO


Winner of the 1997 Tony Award winner for Best Play as well as a Pulitzer Prize, Alfred Uhry's a?oeThe Last Night of Ballyhooa?? will open at 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening, March 14, at The White Theatre, located at The J, 5801 W. 115th St., in Overland Park. Additional evening performances are Thursday, March 19, and Saturday, March 21. Two matinee performances are Sundays, March 15 and 22 with a 2 p.m. curtain. OCTA Opens Classic SENSE AND SENSIBILITY With Contemporary Twist


Directed by Christopher Annino, 'Silent Times' is a Roaring-Twenties escapade set in a small New England town. The story centers on Oliver Henry III (played by Geoff Blanchette), a small-time crook turned vaudeville theater owner. From humble beginnings in England, he immigrates to America in search of happiness and fast cash. He becomes acquainted with people from all walks of life, from burlesque performers, mimes, hobos to classy flapper girls. As his fortunes rise his life spins out of control. Much of the storyline is a reflection on current social issues that burden our society today.

Olathe Civic Theatre Association holds the Winner Workshop for their second New Works Playwright Competition. With this initiative, OCTA invited local playwrights to submit teasers of never before seen scripts and the top five were performed script-in-hand during the March semi-finals. Now, the winning playwright, Jessie Salsbury, gets a two-night workshop event of her play ADOPTION OF GRIEF, July 13 and 14.

Aaron Davidman's WRESTLING JERUSALEM Goes from Stage to Screen Starting Tonight


Aaron Davidman's innovative one-man play Wrestling Jerusalem, which has toured North America for four years including multiple sold-out performances at 59E59 in New York City in 2016, has made the leap to the silver screen in a film directed by Dylan Kussman and will have its New York theatrical premiere at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Symphony Space.

Suddenly, their movie-star sister, Masha, swoops in with her new boy toy, Spike.

Olathe Civic Theatre Association is gearing up for the theater's fifth and final mainstage show of the season. A line from the play best describes Black Pearl Sings when Susannah Mullally says, "Pearl is a pearl." Black Pearl Sings opened on Saturday March 7 at the Just Off Broadway Theatre in Kansas City, Missouri. The production marks two firsts for Spinning Tree Theatre, the production of a local playwright and the first time the company utilized a director outside the organization.

A tear glistened as it rolled down her cheek, and the audience knew they had seen something special. That something special was the opening night of Ghost-Writer at the Quality Hill Playhouse in Kansas City on Saturday August 23. Michael Grayman directs the Spinning Tree Theatre production of Michael Hollinger's Ghost-Writer. The production opens the 2014-2015 season for Spinning Tree, and if this is an indication of the remainder of the season, it is going to be a marvelous ride.
