Jake Cohen BIO

Jake Cohen (he/him) is a Montreal-born and based performer and proud alumnus of the theatre program at Dawson College, where he received the Bertrand A. Henry Memorial Award upon his graduation. After graduating in 2020, he worked with Moment Factory on their VROOM! multimedia drive-in movie experience. He was also a cohort member of Mainline Theatre’s first Propeller Program for emerging artists, and has collaborated on workshops and readings with companies including Geordie, Infinitheatre, and Teesri Duniya. Selected performance credits include Menakhem in The Sages of Chelm (Segal/DWYT), Henry in Next to Normal (Contact Theatre), Hamlet in The Bad Hamlet (Dome), and various roles in the Segal Centre/Tableau D’Hôte’s Voices From The Pandemic series.

When not performing, you can find Jake teaching theatre to some very talented kids across the city, including with Geordie Theatre School, Montreal Children's Theatre, and Segal Academy. He is deeply passionate about theatre education as a way of encouraging self-expression among young people, and allowing them to discover their capacity for teamwork, empathy and play!

Jake is currently studying Acting at the National Theatre School of Canada.

Cohen's funny and frightening story was the basis for an acclaimed 2009 memoir that she has now adapted for the stage. What I Thought I Knew runs at the Kitchen Theatre from June 12 to 30, with preview performances tonight, June 12 and June 13 and 14. Opening Night is June 15, and the closing performance is on June 30.
