MAN OF LA MANCHA Comes to Fulton Theatre Beginning Tonight
Fulton Theatre's 6th show of the 21/22 Marquee Season is the dynamic, exhilarating Man of La Mancha. This epic musical is based on Miguel de Cervantes' seventeenth century novel, Don Quixote, arguably the first true novel of the modern era. As the play begins, we see Cervantes and his manservant thrown into a dungeon where they are to be held as they await trial before the Spanish Inquisition.
Samantha Shay's MOTHER MELANCHOLIA Will Have On-Demand Screenings to Benefit Ukraine
From May 9-15, Samantha Shay’s short film Mother Melancholia will be available for on-demand viewing via pay what you can, and all funds raised will go towards aiding the Ukrainian people. The film is a multi-layered portrait of four women set to a soundtrack for the end of the world. As part of the Under Construction Festival and in partnership with Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, this special digital programming event will be available at bit.ly/MotherMelancholia.
Curio Theatre Company Closes Season With THE WINTER'S TALE
Curio Theatre Company closes its season out with a classic work by William Shakespeare and a trial of a new ticketing initiative. The 2018-2019 will close with a new production of William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale. This story of forgiveness, folly, and redemption will start previews April 24. It will open Saturday, April 27 at 8 p.m. Industry Night is Monday April 29 at 8 p.m. There is a matinee Saturday, May 11 at 2 p.m. With this show, Curio wanted to look at ways to provide quality theatre programming at a fraction of a cost to the community. The company has introduced CuriosiTix: PLAY It Forward. With this initiative, Curio hopes to welcome new audience members that may have shied away from theatre previously due to financial constraints thereby creating a patron base that represents the evolving neighborhood of West Philadelphia. Curio Theatre Company is ready to rock in 2019 as it continues its season with the American premiere of the devised work from British Company RashDash. In this new work, Curio is tackling a well-worn Chekhov classic with a post-modern deconstructionist rock cabaret. Three Sisters, by RashDash, After Chekhov is set to run February 6 - March 2. Ran Xia's ECHO To Play The Tank
The Tank (Meghan Finn and Rosalind Grush, Artistic Directors) will present The Arctic Group's ECHO, written and audio designed by Ran Xia and directed by Nicholas Orvis at The Tank (312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues) April 12-21. Curio Theatre Company Opens Mainstage Season with CRIMES OF THE HEART
Curio Theatre Company follows its Fringe hit staged at the Woodlands and opens its Mainstage Season with Beth Henley's Pulitzer Prize-winning Crimes of the Heart. This smart and surprisingly funny portrait of a dysfunctional family is directed by Gay Carducci and runs November 15-December 9. Opening Night is Friday, November 17 at 8 p.m.
