In a remarkable statewide effort, the 13 downtown historic performing arts centers from Jamestown to Poughkeepsie have come together to form Alive Downtowns!

The Upstate Theater Coalition for a Fairgame is pleased to announce Fairgame Arts Grants, a new funding opportunity for non-profit arts and cultural organizations in three New York state regions-Capital, Catskills and Southern Tier.

Like the name suggests, The Tennessee Williams Theatre Company draws its theatrical productions from the evocative catalog of Southern playwright Tennessee Williams. Currently, the company is presenting three rarely performed one-acts from the latter part of Williams' epic career.

The Tennessee Williams Theatre Company of New Orleans is flying to new heights with Dangerous Birds (If Agitated), opening November 4th uptown at Phillips Bar. The vast outdoor patio of the neighborhood institution will be the staging area for three outrageous short comedies by Tennessee Williams tied together as an ornithology lesson by Burlesque staple Bunny Love. Theatre-goers will be able to enjoy show-themed cocktails while they watch the capers unfurl in this patio-turned-"atrium" where anything can happen-and will!

3Arts is honored to announce the ten recipients of its 8th annual 3Arts Awards, presented to women artists, artists of color, and artists with disabilities working in the performing, teaching, and visual arts. The 2015 recipients are: dancer Kris Lenzo and choreographer Stephanie Martinez; vocalist Frank Waln and instrumentalist Chihsuan Yang; teaching artists Benji Hart and Chris Silva; actors Allen Gilmore and Fawzia Mirza; and visual artists Cheryl Pope and Fo Wilson. 3Arts Awards honorees each receive an unrestricted $25,000 award to put to use according to their individual needs and priorities. To date, the Chicago-based, nonprofit granting organization 3Arts has awarded over $1.5 million in total grants to more than 100 Chicago artists in the past eight years.

The International Beethoven Project, led by President and Artistic Director George Lepauw, announced today the international array of visual art components for Beethoven Festival: LOVE 2013, the organization's third annual multidisciplinary festival inspired by the creativity and genius of Ludwig van Beethoven, Sept. 7-15, 2013. An Art Opening free to the public will be held onFriday, Sept. 6 from 6-8 p.m. Joining the extensive musical lineup previously announced, visual art projects for LOVE 2013 range fromoriginal concert hall video installations to the world premiere of Ludwig, a symphonic graphic novel by Canadian Christian Quesnel that follows an impassioned Beethoven through a steampunk universe. The continuation of the festival's art commission serieswill highlight new works by 20 artists and Chicagoan Jason Hawk will contribute a large site-specific sculpture that fills an entire room at the festival's headquarters, Merit School of Music's Joy Faith Knapp Music Center (38 S. Peoria Street). Additionally, an experiential space will feature improvised dance and musical and performances, live art-making and ephemeral events from Chicago's rich performance art community.
