Meghan Wombles’ spirited portrayal of 19th century British genius Ada Byron Lovelace provides the very heart of Lipscomb University Theatre’s Ada and The Engine, currently onstage through February 18 at the Shamblin Theatre, in a beautifully conceived production directed by Beki Baker.

Tennessee Shakespeare Company brings the classically exquisite story of Cyrano de Bergerac to its Owen and Margaret Wellford Tabor Stage, featuring an expansive design team and cast of AEA actors that includes TSC's Producing Artistic Director Dan McCleary in the title role. 

MainStage Irving-Las Colinas has announced their 2022-2023 season to be produced and performed in the Dupree Theater of the Irving Arts Center. This season features five main productions each running for three weekends – Gypsy, Ada and the Engine, Intimate Apparel, The Light in the Piazza, and The Underpants.  

ADA AND THE ENGINE is a sprawling narrative that dabbles in the intersection of mathematics and a love triangle - and it does so eloquently while shedding light on the immortal shadow of a father's abandonment. It's a handful, but it's one way to alleviate the esoteric chatter of binary codes and algorithms. Given the playwright's prodigious gift in mixing it up, the upshot is a convoluted brew of scholarly discourse and ill-fated matters of the heart.

Tennessee Shakespeare Company returns prolific playwright Lauren Gunderson (2019’s Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley) to its Owen and Margaret Wellford Tabor Stage for the regional premiere of her new historical romance of Byronesque poetry and scientific invention: Ada and the Engine.

After having to close the production right before opening weekend in April 2020, Firehouse Theater Company presents Ada and the Engine from November 13 through December 18.

Carpenter Square Theatre Drives Forward with ADA AND THE ENGINE

As part of the annual recognition of theater excellence, the 47th Non-Equity Jeff Awards today announced honorees in 21 artistic and technical categories. Recipients included 27 theater artists whose work was featured at 14 theater companies during the 2019-2020 season.

With the conclusion of the 2019-2020 Chicago non-Equity theater season, the Jeff Awards announced the nominees for the 47th annual awards for theater excellence that include 120 theater artists across 21 categories.

This season, The Studio Theatre is going to take a deep dive into the struggles women have faced finding their footing over the last two and a half centuries as homage to the centennial anniversary of women's suffrage this year.

Firehouse Theater Companywill present Ada and the Engine from March 28 through April 25, 2020. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 PM, and Sundays at 2:00 PM. Avant Bard Theatre has announced the full cast for the launch of their 30th Anniversary Mainstage Season, the Avant Bard Spring Repertory. The Rep features Avant Bard's long-awaited return to Tennessee Williams with Suddenly Last Summer, directed by Artistic Director Emeritus Christopher Henley.

How do you escape the shadow of your brilliant, infamous father? Do you pursue your own path, a path that leads to envisioning the first computer?  Or do you follow the norm - marry a suitable man and start a family? It may sound like romantic fiction, but it's not. This is the amazing story of Ada Byron Lovelace, in Lauren Gunderson's Ada and the Engine, which begins a 5-week regional premiere run at Stage West on Thursday, January 9.

New Hampshire Theatre Project has received a generous donation of $3,525 from Bob's Clam Hut in Kittery, Maine. At Bob's, excess change is collected from guests at the time of food ordering and payment. Instead of staff receiving these as tips, guests are told that Bob's will be donating to a specific charity. New Hampshire Theatre Project is proud to be the spring recipient.

Ada and Engine portrays the poignant story of Ada Byron Lovelace, daughter of the notorious Lord Byron and creator of the first computer program. Jane Austen meets Steve Jobs in this music-laced story of love, friendship and visionary dreams of the future, a poignant pre-tech romance heralding the computer age.

The Artistic Home Ensemble today announced the cast for its final production of the 2018-19 season - the Chicago premiere of Lauren Gunderson's ADA AND THE ENGINE, which was given its world premiere by Central Works Theater Company of Berkeley, California in 2015. ADA AND THE ENGINE is an historical drama about Ada, the daughter of the poet Lord Byron, and Ada's friend and soul-mate, Charles Babbage, inventor of the first mechanical computer.

Theatre Unleashed is very excited to announce an extension of the hit show 'Ada and the Engine' for two more performances next weekend, Friday, April 5 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 7 at 7 p.m.

While director Heidi Powers knew about Ada Byron's Lovelace contribution to the birth of the modern computer, she was stunned to discover that not only was Ada Lord Byron's daughter, but that she was also an accomplished poet and musician. "I love how she tried to embrace both her artistic and analytical sides," Powers said. "I think that humanity's most powerful inventions come from the combination of the arts and sciences."
