CalArts Center For New Performance Kicks Off Fall 2021 With World Premiere From Daniel Alexander Jones
On Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, CalArts Center for New Performance (CNP) kicks off Fall 2021 with a world premiere from Alpert Award-winning theater artist Daniel Alexander Jones. Produced by CNP, Jones' new work, ALTAR NO. 1 – ATEN, uses the solar system as both metaphor and method for an immersive journey through the celestial, within and without. The work is intended to, as Jones states, “remember us whole.”

In February 2018, Daniel Alexander Jones makes his debut in The Public Theater's mainstage season with his new show Black Light, starring Jones's alter ego, legendary singer Jomama Jones. Originally commissioned as part of the Joe's Pub New York Voices series, Black Light is a moving, music-laden work - a revival of sorts - for turbulent times. Created by Jones, the show features all original music by Jomama, Laura Jean Anderson, Bobby Halvorson, Dylan Meek and Josh Quat. The show's music direction is by Samora Abayomi Pinderhughes.
