A MONSTER CALLS, a powerful story of love, loss, truth and self-discovery, is beautifully rendered for the stage. The fantastical tale is highly physical, gorgeous to behold, and packs a potent emotional punch. The cast and creative teams have been announced for three enchanting family productions across Polka Theatre's two main spaces this spring. From captivating revivals to twists on old tales, there's something for every member of the family in this brilliant programme. 

The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre and Talawa Theatre Company will present the world premiere of Running With Lions. The production will star Ruby Barker, Wil Johnson, Nickcolia KingN’da, Suzette Llewellyn, and Velile Tshabalala.

At long last, the Young Vic has unveiled Cush Jumbo and Greg Hersov's hugely anticipated and much delayed collaboration on Hamlet. Jumbo, familiar to many from the US series The Good Fight, joins the ranks of female actors who have tackled the gargantuan role of the Danish Prince in Shakespeare's great tragedy. In Hersov's abstracted - and often unwieldy - Elsinore, she portrays with charming confidence an increasingly charismatic Hamlet whose masculine pronouns are retained, but whose gender identity is left richly ambiguous.

The Young Vic today releases rehearsal images for their much anticipated production of Hamlet, with Cush Jumbo (The Good Wife, The Good Fight) making her YV debut as a new kind of Hamlet. Featuring a score that includes ‘If I Loved You’ and ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, director Timothy Sheader reunites with Jesus Christ Superstar choreographer Drew McOnie. The cast includes  Carly Bawden (Julie Jordan), Declan Bennett (Billy Bigelow), John Pfumojena (Enoch Snow), Joanna Riding (Nettie Fowler) and Natasha May Thomas (Louise Bigelow).
