Caitlin Cassidy and Nadine Malouf Collaborate on New Play in NYC

Two alumnae of the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) are working together once again in New York City on the world premiere of LubDub Theatre Company's A Play for the Living in a Time of Extinction. The new play by Miranda Rose Hall (currently in-development) is a new solo theatre and music performance starring Malouf that grapples with being a human in a time of mass extinction. This project is being developed through an ongoing two-year residency with the Orchard Project's NYC Greenhouse. Both Malouf and Cassidy trained at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts in acting, singing, and dancing, toured with Electric Youth, and performed with the Franklin Performing Arts Company.

Caitlin Cassidy, originally of Norfolk, is co-Artistic Director of LubDub Theatre Company. An actor-musician-theatremaker, Cassidy is a 2017-18 Fellow with Georgetown University's Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics and a 2017 Global Cultural Fellow with the University of Edinburgh's Institute for International Cultural Relations. Caitlin has also served as Language and Culture Fellow with AMIDEAST, has produced performance with the Tunisian Ministry of Education, designed and implemented theatre-based curricula in Saudi Arabia, and developed and performed work for the International Theatre Institute, UNESCO World Theatre Conference, International Theatre Festival of Kerala, India, and the Creative Media Festival at Northwestern University in Qatar. Her acting credits include: Pay Not Attention to the Girl (Target Margin Theater), Paradise (Central Square Theater), Anything Goes (Williamstown), and Cymbeline (Shakespeare's Globe, London). She holds a B.A. in Government and Arabic from Georgetown University and a master's in Acting from East 15 in London.

Nadine Malouf was recently honored as one of Lincoln Center's Emerging Artists. Malouf was most recently in the NYTimes Critic's Pick, Intractable Woman, a theatrical memo on Russian journalist Anna Politkovskya. She starred in the site specific one woman show, Oh My Sweet Land written & directed by Amir Nizar Zuabi, also a NYTimes Critic's Pick. She recently appeared as Laila in the World Premiere adaptation of Khaled Hosseini's novel A Thousand Splendid Suns at The Old Globe in San Diego, and The American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, for which she won an SF Theatre Critics Circle Award (Best Principal Actress). She also appeared as the title role in the world premiere of SALOMÉ, written and directed by Yaël Farber, at the Shakespeare Theatre Co. in Washington, DC. Malouf made her feature film debut with Cherien Dabis' May In the Summer, an opening night selection at the Sundance Film Festival.
