Hello, all! Just for kicks and giggles. What album do you think would make a great musical? This has been done so much recently, with Lazarus and the recently announced Jagged Little Pill and of course the classics like Jersey Boys and Mama Mia. Just curious on people's thoughts.

I think Amy Winehouse's Back to Black would be great. I also think, eventually Florence + The Machine and Ingrid Michelson could write some beautiful musicals.

Coloring book or Melodrama.
i also think same trailer different park would be cool.

In My Tribe by 10,000 Maniacs (or else Natalie Merchant just writes a musical. That score would be so gorgeous).

I echo Joanne by lady Gaga.
Honestly I would NOT mind seeing a solo show done by her similar to Bruce Sprinsting's show coming up. Since seeing her perform the other night at Citi Field I've been saying that she and her story can make a cool show.

Pedro The Lion. His albums are concept albums so there is a narrative and I love his writing. If you like acoustic/singer-songwriter stuff check it out.

Adele's 21 or even 25. I think a story could definitely be told through those songs. It'd be a certain mood, but still amazing. Also agree with Joanne.

Most of my top ten favorite albums wouldn't make very good musicals. The albums I can think of are already soundtracks to movie musicals:
1. Yentl
2. The Wall
3. Purple Rain
Oh, and:
1. OK Computer - Radiohead
2. Garbage - Garbage

I'm going to go back further in time (I may be older than the average poster here) but I would say 2 Donna Summer albums, both 'concept' albums she wrote or co-wrote:
1. Bad Girls (1979)
2. The Wanderer (1980).
Both have a story line running through it, both have engaging tunes you'll be humming on the way home, both could have a limited cast of characters, staging, costumes.
Of course, these would be VERY DIFFERENT from the jukebox musical 'Summer: The Donna Summer Musical" which will kick off in CA later this year, and hopefully land on B'way in 2018-19.
Summer was quite an incredible talent, opening the doors for Madonna, Janet Jackson, Lady GaGa and many others along the way, Sad she didn't get the real recognition she deserved until she passed away in 2012.

How about "Rumours" by Fleetwood Mac with the addition of Stevie Nicks' song "Silver Springs" which they left off the Rumours album because they ran out of room.
I think that album could tell one hell of a story...

Janelle Monae's Electric Lady and The ArchAndroid both have a storyline and are intended to be listened to in one sitting, with each song leading into the next.
They're both screaming to be made into musicals.

She wrote a song cycle of children's stories and it is absolutely gorgeous!
