Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.
  • Next On Stage - Working on this project and having the opportunity to spotlight so many talented young people from around the country has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.


International Istanbul Theatre Festival Featues Plays in Many Languages, 5/10 - 6/10

This year's International Istanbul Theatre Festival is set to feature artists from around the world in a wide variety of plays in many different languages. Actors and dancers from Japan, Belgium, Britain, Germany, Italy, and the United States will be performing at the festival's 15 venues which include: the Atatürk Cultural Centre, Sabancý University Performing Arts Centre, Institut Français d'Ýstanbul, Casa d'Italia, Pera Museum, Talimhane Theatre and Theatre Z. This year's festival will take place May 10 - June 10.

GLEE Scores High in Nielson Ratings Again this week

According to this week's Nielson ratings, Tuesday's episope of Glee earned the show 12.6 million viewers. Though down from last week's 13.66 million for its much anticpated Madonna episode, Glee with the help of American Idol viewers made Fox the #1 for 18-49 year olds for three consectutive nights.

On Monday, May 3rd, Broadway legend Bernadette Peters will be holding a performance and book signing for her latest publication, Stella is a Star. The event will take place at Dylan's Candy Bar on 1011 3rd Avenue at 60th Street from 3-5PM. Guests can also particpate in a live raffle drawing for which the winner will be awarded the chance to appear onstage with Bernadette Peters & Mary Tyler Moore at this year's Broadway Barks on Saturday, July 10th in Shubert Alley.

Rochelle Steiner Appointed Dean of USC's Roski School

Rochelle Steiner has been named dean of the University of Southern California Roski School of Fine Arts, effective August 1, 2010. Formerly Director of the Public Art Fund in New York from 2006 to 2009, Steiner has commissioned 35 public art projects with established and emerging international artists including Olafur Eliasson's The New York City Waterfalls, which is one of the most ambitious works of public art to have been realized. Steiner has also held curatorial positions in major museums in the United States and London, and she is currently a consultant for the Miami Art Museum.

The cast of the new Off-Broadway hit, BLOOD BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON now playing at The Public, gathered on April 26 to record their cast album, which will be produced by Kurt Deutsch and Dean Sharenow on the Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records label. A release date for the album will be announced shortly.

Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall has been confirmed to be appearing in a Liverpool run of Antony and Cleopatra. She will play Cleopatra opposite Jeffery Kissoon in the Everyman Theater production, which will feature direction by Janet Suzman. Perormances will begin October 8 and run through November 13.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Glee star Diana Agron is set to play the romantic lead in the upcoming Dreamworks flick 'I Am Number Four.' The film is an adaptation of a James Fray and Jobie Hughes young-adult novel.

Bret Michaels Update:Looks to Get Back to Work

Contactmusic.com reports that Bret Michaels spirits are especially high these days and is looking to returning to work as soon as he makes a full recovery. They report that the Poison frontman and his managers currently in the process of rescheduling upcoming tour dates that had been cancelled after the star suffered a massive brain hemmorage last week. Allegedly, Michaels is aiming to join Lynyrd Skynyrd on the road as soon as a month from now.

FROM A JACK TO A KING Opens in Singapore, 5/5

According to the New York Times, the rock n' roll musical From a Jack to a King has recently kicked off its Asian tour in Singapore. With direction by Matt Devitt, this 1992 hit of the West End is based largely on the tale of Macbeth. This jukebox musical was written by Olivier Award winner Bob Carlton, and debuted in 1982 at the Bubble Theatre in London.

A close friend of the family has revealed that Michaels' condition has been deteriorating following the massive hemorrhage he suffered last Thursday.

The Algonquin Hotel has announced their 2010 Oak Room schedule, which will include a wide variety of cabaret performances. The new season will begin with Johnny Rodgers performing What A Wonderful World May 11-29. The show will feature his versions of 'What A Wonderful World,' 'Huggin' and Chalkin,' 'Too Marvelous For Words' and his own songs 'Home To Mendocino,' 'One More Moment' and 'The Best Of You In Me.'

William H. Macy, Marisa Tomei, et al. Lead 'The Lincoln Lawyer' Film

According to Variety, William H. Macy and Marisa Tomei are set to star in the upcoming legal thriller The Lincoln Lawyer. John Ramano's adaptation of Michael Connelly's book of the same title will be directed by Brad Furman. Macy and Tomei will be joining Matthew McConaughey, who has been attached to the film. Filming will begin in July, and the release date for the movie is still unknown.

Dane DeHaan to Appear in HBO's 'In Treatment'

According to a report by Variety, HBO's 'In Treatment' will be welcoming Dane DeHaan to an episode in the upcoming third season. DeHaan will appear as one of Gabriel Byrne's patients in the new season, which is set to begin production soon in New York. Season three will begin later this year on HBO.
