Members of the original Broadway cast and company of 42ND STREET, the Tony Award-winning “song & dance extravaganza” gathered on August 25, 2022 to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of the glorious musical comedy that made Broadway history, produced by David Merrick, directed and choreographed by Gower Champion.

Drury Lane Theatre continues its 2017-2018 season with 42nd Street, with music by Harry Warren, lyrics by Al Dubin, book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, and original Broadway direction and dances by Gower Champion. 42nd Street is based on the novel by Bradford Ropes and was originally produced on Broadway by David Merrick. This production is directed by Michael Heitzman with choreography by Jared Grimes. 42nd Street runs now through January 7, 2018 at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. As BroadwayWorld previously reported,  two-time Tony Award winner Tammy Grimes passed away on Sunday in Englewood, N.J. She was 82-years-old.

American Theater Company (ATC) opens musical comedy Xanadu, the final production of its Legacy Season, this Sunday, June 5. Presented as a tribute to ATC's late Artistic Director PJ Paparelli-a not-so-secret fan of this camp classic-Xanadu is directed by Lili-Anne Brown and runs at ATC now through July 17, 2016. The production has music and lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar and a book by Douglas Carter Beane, based on the 1980 Universal Pictures film of the same title.

TROIKA Entertainment, LLC recently announced that the national tour of the quintessential backstage musical comedy classic 42nd STREET will launch on September 22, 2015 at the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake City, UT. This sparkling new production is directed by co-author Mark Bramble and choreographed by Randy Skinner, the team who staged the 2001 Tony Award® winning Best Revival. Al Hirschfeld immortalized celebrities, politicians, Broadway productions, films, television shows and beyond with his iconic linear drawings for nine decades, establishing himself as one of the most important contemporary portrait artists. Over a decade since the legendary artist drew his final line drawing, he continues to inspire. This spring, Hirschfeld will be celebrated with the publication of a new book and a major exhibition at the New-York Historical Society. Just last night the New-York Historical Society celebrated the launch of The Hirschfeld Century: The Art of Al Hirschfeld. the first major retrospective of Hirschfeld. Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. The Broadway production of 42nd STREET won the Tony Award for Best Musical and Choreography in 1980, and Best Revival in 2001. The Marriott Theatre's production will feature Direction and Musical Staging by 2010 Jeff Award winner Rachel Rockwell, Choreography by 2010 Jeff Award winner Tammy Mader, with Musical Direction by multi-Jeff Award winner Doug Peck.
