 Actors' Equity Association has presented the company members of Head over Heels with the 12th Extraordinary Excellence in Diversity on Broadway Award for the 2018-2019 season. 

Produced by The British Theatre Academy, this is a youth production of the multi award-winning Broadway hit, from the Tony Award-winning songwriting team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Anastasia, Seussical, Ragtime).

The The British Theatre Academy returns to Southwark Playhouse for a second summer season of shows.

There's a fairly good chance that Lynn Ahrens wrote one of your favorite songs. Over the past few decades, she's written songs for beloved titles such as Schoolhouse Rock, Anastasia, Once on This Island, Seussical, and Ragtime. Alongside longtime collaborator Stephen Flaherty, she's been part of pretty much every theatre lover's life.

Broadway's Norm Lewis ('Once on this Island') stopped backstage recently after seeing '42nd Street' at the historic Bucks County Playhouse, where it recently broke the theater's Box Office record. 

Yesterday, June 19, Actors' Equity Association, the labor union for professional stage actors and stage managers, presented the 2018 Advisory Committee on Chorus Affairs (ACCA) Award to the chorus of Once on This Island. The award, established in 2007, is given to what the committee votes on as the outstanding Broadway chorus of the season.

We're in the midst of award season on Broadway, which means Stars in the Alley! The free Broadway concert was held yesterday, June 1, in Shubert Alley. On Monday, May 11th, Feinstein's/54 Below celebrated the 2017-2018 season's amazing and landmark Broadway debuts with Another Opening, Another Debut! 

Broadway stars Phillip Boykin, Quentin Earl Darrington, Hailey Kilgore, Kenita R. Miller, Alex Newell, Isaac Powell, Lea Salonga and additional cast members of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, along with composers Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty celebrated the release of the musical's cast album recording (available now through Broadway Records) at Barnes and Noble last night, March 14.

The cast of Once on this Island recently got visits from Tina Fey, Brian d'Arcy James, Will Chase, Ingrid Michaelson, and David Henry Hwang. The show's official Twitter account posted photos of cast members with the visitors. Check out the tweets, and the photos here!

Celebrating 20 years since Heather Headley's Broadway debut in Disney's landmark musical The Lion King, the 10th annual Broadway Dreams Supper, supporting the performing arts education not-for-profit Broadway Dreams, treated guests to cocktails, a formal dinner, and tribute performances from some of the today's most celebrated performers at The Plaza (58th Street and Fifth Avenue). TheatreWorks Silicon Valley celebrates the holiday season with a riotous escapade, Around the World in 80 Days. Taking place in an 1870s alive with danger, romance, and comic surprises, fearless adventurer Phileas Fogg and his faithful valet circle the globe in an unheard-of 80 days. In the hilariously theatrical style of The 39 Steps, five actors portray dozens of characters in a thrilling race against time and treachery, recreating one of the greatest adventures of all time. Full of stampeding elephants, raging typhoons, and runaway trains, Around the World in 80 Days, adapted by the award-winning playwright Mark Brown, offers an imaginative and ingenious expedition for the whole family. Directed by TheatreWorks Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley, Around the World in 80 Days will be presented November 29 December 31, 2017 (press opening: December 2) at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Rd., Palo Alto. Multimedia company Artist Playground presents I Remember A Boy, a musical revue featuring Original Pilipino Music's (OPM) classic hits, on Saturday, November 11, and Sunday, November 12, at Arts Above (112 West Avenue, Quezon City).

The revival of the Olivier Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated Best Musical Once On This Island, directed by Tony nominee Michael Arden and choreographed by the critically-acclaimed Camille A. Brown, will begin preview performances on Thursday, November 9, 2017 and officially open on Sunday, December 3 at the Circle in the Square Theatre.

Prospect Theater Company launches its 2017-18 IGNITE Series tonight at 8pm, with a concert of GOLD MOUNTAIN, with book, music, and lyrics by 2017 ASCAP Foundation Cole Porter Award winner Jason Ma. This original musical spins an epic love story, set against the backdrop of the 1860s construction of The Central Pacific Railroad.

In addition to producing great theatre works, Primary Stages produced one of this season's most exciting Galas. If you happened to be on the subway this month and smelled something particularly fishy (not the usually kind of subway fishy) you may have been in the same car as a mermaid. Saturday, June 17th, 2017 marked the 35th Annual Mermaid Parade on Coney Island. That's right. One day a year, all the mermaids of Coney Island are magically granted feet and march down Surf Ave and the Boardwalk until they grow their fins back and return to their watery homes… Okay maybe not quite mermaids, but close! Thousands of artists, and mermaid enthusiasts march in the parade every year. Over 3,000 Seashell clad individuals strolled, danced, and rolled down Surf Ave this year. It began pouring rain before the parade and several times during. Luckily, it is the Mermaid Parade, so a little water wasn't a problem for the marchers.

Beloved Broadway shows were stripped down, sexied up and given a Broadway Bares twist at this year's edition of Broadway Bares Fire Island. Inspired by some of the theatre's greatest hits and set to pop music, the evening brought Broadway style to classic striptease. Twenty-six of New York City's best dancers came together in Fire Island Pines on June 3, 2017, and raised a record-breaking $56,533 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
