Good Night, Oscar starring Emmy Award-winning actor Sean Hayes, is running now at  Broadway's Belasco Theatre. Wit, by Margaret Edson, presented by actor Pamela Vogel, opens for eight performances in a limited run. It is one production in the inaugural year of the Houston Equity Festival, a collection of local professional actors, all members of the union Actors' Equity Association, each of whom is mounting her/his own show during the summer and fall of 2019. Ms. Vogel (Leap and the Net Will Appear / Catastrophic Theatre) plays Vivian Bearing, and Vance Johnson (Bootycandy / Catastrophic Theatre) and (Passing Strange / Standing Room Only Productions) directs.

Early in the first act of the Tom Snow - Dean Pitchford 1998 musical Footloose, Ren declares his passion for dancing - 'I can't sit still' - and, indeed, by the end of the evening at the Pickard Theatre, the audience for Maine State Music Theatre echoes his mantra. They are cheering, swaying, and shouting to the music, and embracing the exuberant, touching message of this show. Directed and choreographed brilliantly by Patti Colombo (assisted by Karl Warden) and performed by a dynamic cast, this fourth and final production of MSMT's 2014 season dazzles and delights.

Haven Theatre Chicago follows their hit run of Hedwig and the Angry Inch with The Wedding Singer, now through November 17, at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. Based on the 1998 romantic comedy starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, The Wedding Singer is directed by Jess McLeod, music directed by Kory Danielson and choreographed by Jim Beaudry. The production has music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin and book by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming Broadway premiere of WIT, the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Margaret Edson, directed by Lynne Meadow, will start previews Thursday, January 5 and open Thursday, January 26 at MTC's Samuel J. South Coast Repertory will open its 2009-2010 season with a celebration of the music of Broadway legend Stephen Sondheim and will shine the spotlight later in the season on the up-and-coming musical theater composer and lyricist, Adam Gwon. The season lineup includes World Premieres by Bathsheba Doran, Julie Marie Myatt and Howard Korder, and a West Coast Premiere by Noah Haidle.
