Troilus and Cressida Revival 1956

The Old Globe's 2020 Summer Season brings to Balboa Park an extraordinarily talented group of artists who will delight audiences with their unique takes on four great works of theatre. The season incudes a classic American musical, a new adaptation of a 20th century thriller, and two of Shakespeare's masterworks on our outdoor stage.

The Stratford Festival lost one of its pioneers today. Douglas Rain died of natural causes early this morning at the age of 90 at St. Marys Memorial Hospital, just outside of Stratford, Ontario, the city in which he established his career, becoming one of the world's great classical actors.

Theatre for a New Audience (TFANA; Jeffrey Horowitz, Founding Artistic Director) is pleased to announce that Gregory Doran, artistic director, Royal Shakespeare Company, has invited Michael Boyd to stage his edit of Tamburlaine, Boyd's version of Christopher Marlowe's two-part epic, Tamburlaine the Great, which will open the Swan Theatre season at the Stratford-Upon-Avon based RSC.

BEDLAM (Eric Tucker, Artistic Director; Kimberly Pau Boston, Managing Director) returns to the work of George Bernard Shaw with their new production of PYGMALION featuring Rajesh Bose as Mr. Doolittle, Annabel Capper, Nigel Gore, Edmund Lewis, Vaishnavi Sharma as Eliza Doolittle, and Eric Tucker as Professor Henry Higgins.

Writers Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, presents A Moon for the Misbegotten, written by Eugene O'Neill and directed by WT Resident Director William Brown. A Moon for the Misbegotten runs February 7 March 18, 2018 in the Alexandra C. and John D. Nichols Theatre at 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe. The Press Opening is Wednesday, February 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Shakespeare's most celebrated tragedy will run January 16-February 25, 2018 at Sidney Harman Hall.

Kelsey Leigh Ervi returns to direct.

The Village Voice, the nation's largest alternative weekly newspaper, will hold the 59th Annual Obie Awards tonight, Monday, May 19, 2014, at Webster Hall in the East Village, 125 East 11th Street. Staged by PNB Founding Artistic Director Francia Russell, PNB's production is an enchanted landscape where misunderstandings and mayhem weave tangled paths through the opulent layers of Martin Pakledinaz's designs and Balanchine's marvelously crafted partnerings. All ends well in Act II's wedding festivities with the recognition of ideal love, tenderly portrayed in an exquisite pas de deux. The Telegraph writes that Tony-winning stage, television and film star Paul Rogers has passed away. He was 96.

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) are pleased to announce full casting for Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming world premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire's GOOD PEOPLE directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan.

Iwan Rheon, who yesterday won the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Role in a Musical for his performance in Spring Awakening, will play Huw Prosser, the prototypical Angry Young Man, in the new production of John Osborne's lost early play The Devil Inside Him. Also joining the cast are Jamie Ballard, John Cording, Stephen Elliott, Hellen Griffin, Derek Hutchinson, Rachel Lumberg and Catrin Stewart.

American Conservatory Theater (ACT) presents N. Richard Nash's classic western romance The Rainmaker; directed by the esteemed Mark Rucker. The Rainmaker will play ACT October 25 through November 25. Press night is Tuesday, October 30, at 8PM. Tickets - starting at $14 - are now available.
