One of the most popular performing arts venues in Orange County, Irvine Barclay Theatre presents renowned artists in a wide range of genres, from jazz, classical, country, Motown, and global music, to comedy, dance, theater, captivating speakers, and more.

A first translation of Italian playwright Emanuele Aldrovandi’s satirical, absurdist play darkly refracts Europe’s migration crisis. In a not-too-distant future, the continent's economies have collapsed, and three travellers find that the tables have turned as they are forced to flee the very countries which had once closed their borders to migrants.

Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh has shared that the new Trainspotting musical will be even darker than any previous iteration of the story.

After Covid dealt a stuttering start to the year, 2022 brought some standout shows and performances. Here are some of our critics' highlights from the past twelve months.

After two years of absolute doom and uncertainty, 2022 began with a sprinkle of glimmer on the horizon. Masked up and cautious, we came back to theatres properly. Admittedly and unfortunately, I found the return underwhelming and gave very few glowing 5-star reviews. I still loved a good number of productions, but it’s a far cry from struggling to whittle it down to a Top 10. Nonetheless, it was an exciting year.

Jordan Gray is having one hell of a year. Five-star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe have led to a run at Soho Theatre, a controversial slot on Channel 4’s Friday Night Live and the chance to work on an ITV show with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

Just in time for the witching season, Hammer Theatre Center will present the renowned troupe Actors From The London Stage, performing Shakespeare’s chilling tale of power, envy, and ambition, Macbeth. Hammer Theatre Center will present on its mainstage the National Theatre Live screening of Frankenstein.

Riverside Studios today announces the full line-up of shows for the return of its innovative Bitesize Festival. This follows the success of the launch of this initiative in January, that saw 9 shows take to Riverside's stage, showcasing work from new and emerging theatre makers.

The Citizens Theatre has today unveiled the cast for its touring production of Shakespeare’s riotous tale of mistaken identity, The Comedy of Errors.

Produced by Brass Jar Productions (Drunk Shakespeare) and Olivier Award-winning producer James Seabright, Trainspotting Live first officially opened on July 15, 2018.
