VIDEO: Tom Stell Releases Music Video to TELL ME, feat. Nicole Millar
by Courtnie Mele - Jun 23, 2014

Back in February of this year, masked mystery-producer Tom Stell – formerly known only by the moniker of Golden Features – unleashed a 4 track EP that shook the Australian music scene to its very core. As countless producers from the Southern hemisphere continued to produce the now famous 'Australian' sound, Tom achieved the unlikely with his self-titled 'Golden Features' EP, and set himself apart from the rest of the movement.

BWW Reviews: Obsidian Art Space's RUINED is Thought Provoking
by David Clarke - Mar 4, 2014

Lynn Nottage's RUINED was well received in New York City in 2009, and now it is making its Houston premiere in a production produced by Obsidian Art Space. A tautly constructed drama about the use of rape as a weapon in the Congolese Civil War, this fascinating and thought-provoking show is one that will leave Houston audiences with plenty to think about.

BWW Reviews: Cone Man Running Productions' A SPONTANEOUS SMATTERING: HOLIDAY EDITION Puts the Ha Ha Ha in Happy Holidays
by David Clarke - Dec 22, 2013

Cone Man Running Productions and Obsidian Art Space's popular 24 hour play festival, A SPONTANEOUS SMATTERING, was given a seasonal spin for last night's holiday edition. Drawing a crowd of theatre diehards, family, and friends, everyone in attendance was curious to see what these skilled and talented artists would create. Waiting for the show to begin, everyone was buzzing about the #smattering posts they had seen on Facebook, the writers' previous works, and their excitement about what they were about to witness. It doesn't hurt any that everyone was treated to a free shot as they picked up their tickets either.

BWW Reviews: Cone Man Running Productions' SPONTANEOUS SMATTERING - THE THIRD is the Iron Chef of Theatre
by Kristina Nungaray - Aug 27, 2013

On Saturday night, August 25, I had the pleasure of attending Cone Man Running Productions' annual twenty-four hour play festival, SPONTANEOUS SMATTERING. Although this was my first official Smattering, Saturday night was Cone Man Running Productions' third inception, and it was clear that they had gathered an avid fan base over the past two productions. A couple of laughs into the first short play, I could see why it has become such a popular event. This annual twenty-four hour play festival showcases the creative talent of local playwrights, directors, and actors and provides Houston audiences with a night of theatre that is anything but mainstream.

BWW Reviews: Standing Room Only Productions' THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL Sizzles With Heart and Hilarity
by David Clarke - Jul 14, 2013

Houston audiences adore Betsy Kelso and David Nehls' THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL. The raucous musical originally opened Off-Broadway in September 2005. Stages Repertory Theatre initially brought the musical to Houston in a production that ran from July 12, 2006 to March 31, 2007. Due to popular demand, they brought the show back from June 1 to September 4, 2011. Now, Standing Room Only Productions is presenting their take on the popular musical, ensuring that Houston's summer theatre season sizzles with witty, boisterous entertainment.

BWW Review: EVIL IN JUSTICEBERG - Funny, Experimental Superhero Show
by David Clarke - Mar 3, 2013

Obsidian Art Space's resident theatre company, Big Head Productions, is bringing a fanciful little niche show to Houston audiences in their production of Crash Buist's EVIL IN JUSTICEBERG. This new comic book themed play is filled with laughs and spandex. Audiences looking for zany fun are in for a treat if they venture to Obsidian Art Space during this run.

BWW Reviews: NSFW: THE OFFICE PLAYS - Where OFFICE SPACE Meets SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE
by David Clarke - Dec 9, 2012

Big Head Productions is presenting their third evening of short plays. This collection of plays, some from local artists, all have an office theme. The set is four cubicles, cut to allow the audience to see through them and into the other cubicles. Each cubicle is sprinkled with drawn on post-its and other items of office boredom inspired artwork. On the whole, the evening plays out like a fusion of Mike Judge's Office Space and an episode of Saturday Night Live. Like the skits on Saturday Night Light, some of the plays stand out as stronger works than the others, but all are entertaining.
