Ross Valley Players to Present JOURNEY'S END, 1/16-2/16

ROSS VALLEY PLAYERS will present the West Coast Premiere of the World War I drama, Journey's End, by R.C. Sherriff. Set in the trenches of World War I, Journey's End gives a look into the experiences of the officers of a British Army infantry company as they prepare for an enemy attack. Nominated for 12 Tony Award for the 2007 Broadway revival and winner for Best Revival of a Play, Journey's End is directed by renowned Marin County director, teacher and actor, James Dunn. Journey's End begins with a preview on Thursday, January 16 and runs through Sunday, February 16. Opening night is Friday, January 17 at 8PM. www.rossvalleyplayers.com.

Under the new program banner of NextStop Family, the company will dedicate even greater focus and funding to producing high quality plays and musicals for kids and their parents.

Seattle Public Theater (SPT) announces the arrival of new Managing Director, Zoe Alexis Scott. A third-generation enthusiast of the performing arts, Scott most recently served as Executive Director of The Grand, an historic theatre and nonprofit organization on the coast of Maine, from 2008 to 2013. This was a transformational time for the organization with Scott leading a community-wide restoration campaign and a turnaround in educational programming.

On Wednesday, September 25, for one night only, Sierra Stages and Miners Foundry Cultural Center present THE EFFECT OF GAMMA RAYS ON MAN-IN-THE-MOON MARIGOLDS, the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama by Paul Zindel, as the fourth in it series of informal play readings titled 'Theater by the Book'. The reading is directed by Diane Fetterly and takes place at the Miners Foundry in Nevada City at 7:30 PM.

Cinnabar Theater in Sonoma County is transformed into one of France's finest nightclubs for "La Cage aux Folles," the exuberant show that's earned 11 Tony Awards including Best Musical. After Cinnabar presents a comedy called "The Pavilion" in September, "La Cage aux Folles" kicks off on Friday, October 18 and sashays across the stage through Sunday, November 3.

Denver Center Theatre Company Announces Upcoming Season

The Denver Center Theatre Company announced a 10-play season including four exhilarating world premieres selected from the 2013 Colorado New Play Summit. Karen Zacarias' adaptation of Helen Thorpe's book Just Like Us, Catherine Trieschmann's comedy The Most Deserving, Matthew Lopez's heartfelt The Legend of Georgia McBride and Marcus Gardley's adaptation of Homer's epic poem, black odyssey, will all take to the stage to dazzle Denver audiences. Also selected for the season is a Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, an adaptation of a Marx Brother's script, Shakespeare's tragic masterpiece, a powerful and poignant love story and the return of a Christmas classic. 'We had such compelling and imaginative writing at this year's Colorado New Play Summit that could not be overlooked,' said Producing Artistic Director Kent Thompson. 'Our selections this year are wide-ranging and diverse and I think will bring excitement to our patrons' experience at the theatre.'

Directed by the company's producing artistic director Vali Forrister, Becky's New Car is a perfect choice for Actors Bridge, providing a showcase for a group of talented actors so charming and so engaging that you might find yourself falling a little bit in love with the whole lot. In fact, I'd probably drink the bathwater of the entire cast, so completely believable are they in this sharply written, inventively staged production. Take my advice: You best go look under the hood of Becky's New Car before its run ends on August 7.
