Westport Country Playhouse will stage the lavish, large-cast comedy, 'A Flea in Her Ear,' newly adapted by David Ives from the original by Georges Feydeau, and directed by Mark Lamos, Westport Country Playhouse artistic director. Fresh from a sold-out run by Delaware's Resident Ensemble Players (REP), a professional theater located at the University of Delaware, the co-production with the REP will run in Westport July 10 - 28.

Westport Country Playhouse Receives National Endowment For The Arts Grant

Westport Country Playhouse has been awarded a $15,000 Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for the autumn production of Matthew Greene's "Thousand Pines," a world premiere from the Playhouse's New Works Circle Initiative. Directed by Austin Pendleton, the drama will run from Oct. 30 through Nov. 17.

Westport Country Playhouse will host a 2018 Season Kick-off Party on Saturday, April 7, from 5 to 8 p.m., offering a fun atmosphere with food trucks, beer tastings, exhibits, and special ticket discounts. In addition, a "Sneak Peek" of the upcoming season will be hosted by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director, at 6:30 p.m. The "Sneak Peek" will feature guests representing all of the upcoming productions, including playwrights, directors, and designers. Admission is free and open to the public.

Westport Country Playhouse's New Works Circle Initiative (NWCI) continues in its third consecutive year of developing new plays and musicals, culminating in readings before an invited audience. Matthew Greene, a Brigham Young University graduate and practicing Mormon, is preparing for the New York City premier of 'Adam and Steve and the Empty Sea,' his new play that tackles the issues of Mormonism and marriage equality. After a sold-out and critically acclaimed world premier at Plan B Theatre in Salt Lake City, the production will transfer to the New York International Fringe Festival, playing August 9-15. Directed by Jerry Rapier, the production will feature Topher Rasmussen and Logan Tarrantino as its title characters.
