The Brand Signature Series at Aurora Theatre continues with The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown by New York's best young composers, Kait Kerrigan and Brain Lowdermilk. The show runs March 13 through April 6, 2014. Samantha Brown is a girl who has what every teenager wants: brains, a boyfriend, functional parents and an acceptance letter to the college of her choice. Yet she sits in her car with her bags packed and can't turn the key in the ignition. At the crossroads to adulthood, will Samantha come to terms with her parents' expectations, her first love, and a lost friendship and start the car, drive away and find freedom?

AEG Live has just announced the touring cast for the southern gothic, supernatural musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, libretto by Stephen King, with music and lyrics by John Mellencamp and musical direction by T Bone Burnett. The show will be appearing in 19 cities throughout the Midwest and Southeast beginning October 10 in Bloomington, IN, and ending November 6 in Grand Rapids, MI. Serenbe Playhouse's 'Season of Change' will conclude with the smash Broadway classic, HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical, which defined a generation when it first opened in 1967. Now, 45 years later, Serenbe Playhouse, along with director Brian Clowdus, brings the story to life outdoors in a beautiful, vast Wildflower Meadow as they transport us back in time and remind us of the relevance it's message has today.

Anyone familiar with the Atlanta theatre scene knows that there is as much talent here as in nearly anywhere else in the country, and this summer, Atlanta's 30+ professional theatre companies are putting that talent to use. While there are countless other great productions going on around the city this summer, BWW Atlanta has narrowed it down to six that will surely leave Hotlanta talking well into the winter months.

'Hello Dolly...it's so nice to have you back where you belong.' I have to admit, prior to seeing the ebullient production of 'Hello Dolly!' at Georgia Ensemble Theatre, I generally considered the musical, by Jerry Herman (music and lyrics) and Michael Stewart (book), to be a relic of a bygone era, based on a play of an era even more bygone (Thornton Wilder's 1938 comedy 'The Merchant of Yonkers,' reworked as 'The Matchmaker' in 1955). However, after seeing this joyful production, directed by Suzi Award winner Heidi Cline McKerley, I must concede that this heart-warmingly energetic show is in fact back where it belongs, on stage entertaining audiences young and old.

Since it's founding in 1992, Georgia Ensemble Theatre has generally produced a small musical each year, but in its 20th season, G.E.T. is presenting one of the grandest shows in Broadway history, 'Hello Dolly!' Their production is directed by Suzi Award winner Heidi Cline McKerley (Horizon Theatre's 'Avenue Q') and choreographed by her husband Jeff (who also stars as Cornelius), who won two Suzis; Best Actor and Best Choreography for the New American Shakespeare Tavern's 'Cabaret.' Music direction is by Bill Newberry. The show opens April 11th and runs through April 28th.

Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's only professional theatre company, will close its 2012-2013 20th anniversary season-long celebration with the classic Broadway musical, Hello, Dolly! by Jerry Herman and Michael Stewart, directed by Heidi Cline McKerley running April 11-28, 2013, at the Theatre's home, the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, 950 Forrest Street, Roswell, GA. The Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. announced nominations for the 2011-2012 Atlanta professional theatrical season this evening to an enthusiastic crowd of patrons and theatre industry artists. The Suzi Nomination Party, which rotates venues, was hosted this year by the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, GA. The spacious lobby allowed guests to enjoy drinks, hors d'ouevres and the chance to congratulate their colleagues. Guest announcers, Atlanta's own funny men Bryan Brendle, Bart Hansard, Tony Larkin, Aurora Theatre artistic director Tony Rodriguez and Scott Warren shared the list of nominees while playfully riffing on the 2011/2012 Atlanta theatre season.
