Shakespeare in the Park is back and we've got photos from them official re-opening night! On Friday night, MERRY WIVES celebrated its opening at the Delacorte Theater, where it will run through Saturday, September 18. The play is adapted by Jocelyn Bioh and directed by Saheem Ali.

BWW Review: CHESS Brings a Rocky Start to the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre's New Season


The Jennie T. Anderson Theatre is back with live, in-theatre shows, starting with CHESS in concert on July 24th. Directed by Lilliangina Quiñones, Artistic Director Jono Davis mentioned in the program that this show came together in just seven days for one night only. A part of the theatre's Overture Series, CHESS has actually been in progress since 2019, but was delayed due to the pandemic.

A Christmas Carol, Alliance Theatre's annual holiday production, returns for its 30th season, November 16 - December 24, 2019. After two seasons at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, the Alliance's production will return home to the newly renovated Coca-Cola Stage at Alliance Theatre on the campus of the Woodruff Arts Center.

Normal Ave is proud to announce a merger with Medicine Show Theatre Ensemble, Inc. Normal Ave's team has been nominated by the board of Medicine Show to run the operations of Medicine Show's 52nd Street space, which has served as Normal Ave's artistic home for each of its three seasons. Normal Ave will also announce new nominees for its Board of Directors in the coming months. The theatre space is available for rental immediately.

The Auburn Avenue Research Library in collaboration with Actor's Express will host director Donya K. Washington, dramaturg Dr. Angela Farr Schiller, and Atlanta Distinguished Professor Emerita of Southern Studies Dr. Theda Perdue in a discussion on the performance of race through the context of history and the Obie Award-winning play An Octoroon by playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. The New York Times praises An Octoroon as "This decade's most eloquent theatrical statement on race." In it, Jacobs-Jenkins reframes the 19th century melodrama, The Octoroon by Dion Boucicault, blending theatrical styles and 21st century cultural politics in an exploration of the art form's interplay with race and identity. Opening with a scene from the Atlanta production of An Octoroon featuring actor Neal A. Ghant, our panelist share in discussion about the play's themes, their relation to our state and local history, and why it's still relevant today.

The Muse Project, in association with The Tank, will present Musings: a collection of Mini Muse presentations at The Flea Theater as a part of their Anchor Partnership. The Muse Project gives women performers the time, space, and opportunity to experiment with and explore their fantasy projects. Musings will showcase the exciting, fresh, paradigm-shifting storytelling that 5 of New York's leading stage actresses have developed through intensive workshops, called Mini Muses. The week will culminate in a party on October 19th, the 'Mini Gala' - a wine and cheese event to celebrate the week's presentations; and 'Tea Time,' a one-of-a-kind Muse pilot program, where a veteran stage actress discusses her experiences building her career. Actress Florencia Lozano is set to partake as the Tea Time guest.

Florencia Lozano joins The Muse Project for their inaugural Tea Time event on October 21st at 5:30pm at The Flea Theater in Tribeca. Tea Times are a one-of-a-kind Muse pilot program, and October 21st's Tea Time will cap off a week of exciting presentations from some of New York's most dynamic women performers (Musings: a collection of Mini Muse presentations). During Tea Times, a veteran stage actress (Ms. Lozano) discusses her experiences building her career. The Muse Project's Artistic Director, Jocelyn Kuritsky, will lead the discussion with Ms. Lozano. A q&a with attendees and tea (and cookies!) and networking to follow. This event is open to all, and it is also a special opportunity for women actors to network with Ms. Lozano, each other, and to seek insight and support.
