The Prince Fellowship Announces New Fellows

The Prince Fellowship, in association with Columbia University School of the Arts, announced that Osh Ghanimah has received The Prince Fellowship and Lawryn LaCroix has received the Prince/TTLP Fellowship, formerly known as The T. Fellowship. The late Broadway producer and director Harold Prince created the program to usher in the next generation of creative producers.

The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts announced today that Jason Robert Brown, Savion Glover, Priscilla López, Susan Stroman, Marisha Wallace, and Christopher Wheeldon have joined the growing list of Broadway stars participating in I'm Still Here: A Virtual Benefit for the Billy Rose Theatre Division, airing June 23, 2021 on Broadway On Demand at 8pm EST and 8pm PST. The fundraiser will help raise critical funds for the Library for the Performing Arts' beloved Theatre Division as it celebrates its 90th anniversary this year.

Kinoshita Group, Kumiko Yoshii, and Michael Wolk announced today simultaneously in New York and Los Angeles that The Karate Kid is being developed for Broadway as a new musical. Based on the smash hit Columbia Pictures motion picture, and featuring a book by the film's screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen and music and lyrics by Drew Gasparini, The Karate Kid will be directed by renowned Japanese director Amon Miyamoto and choreographed by MTV VMA nominees Keone and Mari Madrid.

I had the privilege of interviewing Robin de Levita, mastermind of the 360 StageAround technology, about coming to Japan and why he felt it was important to create a new live theater experience for the world. The most inspiring thing he told me was that Arts Education deserves support and respect from the government. The impact of theater on our youth is huge! 'When kids come to the theater, their phones are switched off. The lights go down. The performance is life and alive. The impact is huge.'

Today, the producers of Be More Chill announced the launch of "The Post Show Hang," a special Wednesday evening post-show encore series, that will include a performance tomorrow, Wednesday, May 29, with Gaten Matarazzo("Stranger Things"). Tony Award nominee Joe Iconis will accompany an exciting lineup of actors as they each perform a song from the Tony Award-nominated score of Be More Chill. Additional actors will be announced at a later date.
