The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) Free For All, one of the capital's most beloved annual traditions offering free performances of a Shakespearean classic to the general public each summer, will return next month with the Company's 2016 production of William Shakespeare's Othello. Helmed by internationally acclaimed director Ron Daniels and starring screen actor Faran Tahir in the titular role, the production will run at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St. NW) from August 15-27, offering more than 12,000 people the chance to see the play free of charge.

Performances are Wednesday – Saturday evenings 7/5 – 7/8, Today – Saturday 7/11 – 7/15 (8pm curtain), and Saturday matinees 7/8 and 7/15 (2pm curtain).

Today, The Collaborator Party, headed by theatrical sound designers Lindsay Jones and John Gromada, announced that their event was a complete sell-out for the third year in a row. The Collaborator Party is the official Tony night party for the theatre sound community and all of their collaborators. The main party was held June 11, 2016 at Houston Hall (222 W. Sometimes love is unpredictable. It may come at the strangest moments, when you least expect it - even when you are at your lowest point or have suffered a recent loss. But one thing is certain, when it does come, it is hard to shake and something worth seeing through. Such is the kind of love on display between the two characters in Arlene Hutton's LAST TRAIN TO NIBROC, currently playing at Playhouse on Park in West Hartford.

Some People Hear Thunder is a powerful musical love story-an uplifting tale of a young reporter, his true love in America, and Armenians fighting for dignity and survival in the face of brutality.

'There is no present or future-only the past happening over and over again - now." These words from Eugene O'Neill's A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN illustrate so poignantly the emotions on display on stage at Playhouse on Park in their current production of the O'Neill classic. Whether the past being referenced are the three sons who one after the other have escaped the oppressive farm life with their father Phil Hogan, or the haunting past actor Jim Tyrone has tried to bury with alcohol and women, audiences get a powerful taste of the lives of these vivid and broken characters in this latest production on the Playhouse stage.

Broadway has given us many things - both successes and flops, brilliant (and sometimes not-so-brilliant) music, and the opportunity to sit in an audience and be transported to a new reality. And though you often see a glimmer of familiarity in the plot, the characters you encounter aren't necessarily people you might bump into on the street, have over to watch TV, or call your friends. But in Hunter Bell and Jeff Bowen's [TITLE OF SHOW], the current production at Playhouse on Park in West Hartford, audiences aren't asked to suspend reality and take a magical journey to a faraway land, instead, they have the rare opportunity to join four real people, people just like them, who love performing (and making art) as they create something together - an original musical.
