Tonight, April 28, Symphony Space will host its spring gala, Fiddler at 50, to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Fiddler on the Roof.

On April 28, Symphony Space will host its spring gala, Fiddler at 50, to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Fiddler on the Roof. The evening will honor Sheldon Harnick, the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning lyricist behind the iconic musical. Symphony Space's Gala is co-chaired by Lenore Davis and Amy Wilson. Honorary co-chairs for the evening are Mary Rodgers Guettel, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Harold Prince, and Stephen Sondheim.

New Georges' 22nd production year will spotlight on The New Georges Jam ON TOAST at Dixon Place, a new play festival that will feature work by the New Georges Jam, a "performance gym" for early-career playwrights and directors founded at New Georges in 2010 by Lucy Alibar(Beasts of the Southern Wild), Jess Chayes (HOME/SICK) and Portia Krieger (Eager to Lose). The New Georges Jam ON TOAST will feature 19 Jammers past and present - including two playwrights receiving their first New York productions. But first New Georges will kick things off with The 1st George Sand Invitational One-Minute Play Festival, the first all-women edition of the nationwide One-Minute Play Festival, January 13th & 14th at INTAR Theatre, featuring one-minute plays by over 50 female playwrights. The '14 season will also feature a special collaboration between New Georges and Barnard College in March, New Plays at Barnard, which will bring downtown artists and the new-play experience to students at Barnard and Columbia.

Theatre 167 will bring its critically acclaimed JACKSON HEIGHTS TRILOGY to the Queens Museum for a site-specific performance on Sunday, January 19, 2014 from 2:00-5:00PM.

The One-Minute Play Festival and New Georges have created a dynamic partnership for The 1st George Sand Invitational One-minute Play Festival with part of the proceeds to benefit New Georges' indispensable workspace for women theater artists: The Room.

Theatre 167 has been awarded a grant from The Arch & Bruce Brown Foundation to support their current production of PIRIRA. Founded in 1994 by the late playwright/filmmaker Arch Brown in memory of his life partner of 28 years, Bruce Allen Brown, the Arch & Bruce Brown Foundation honors outstanding plays and fiction dealing with LGBT history or placing lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender characters in historical settings.

Kaleidoscope Theatre Montreal will present their third production, the Canadian premiere of Jenny Lyn Bader's None of the Above, directed by Trevor Barrette and Michelle Lewis. The company's two successful past productions of the classic plays, Sophocles' Antigone and William Shakespeare's The Tempest, were presented at the Casgrain Studio Theatre in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. They are very excited to be making their work more accessible by bringing None of the Above to Montreal's MainLine Theatre from November 26th to the 30th. The show features a soundtrack created by Montreal musicians.

PIRIRA will play a limited engagement at The Chain (21-28 45th Road, Long Island City, NY 11101). Performances begin tonight, October 17 and continue through Sunday, November 10. Opening Night is Friday, October 18 (8 p.m.).

Bay Street Theatre has announced that Scott Schwartz, a leading voice of the next generation of American theater, has joined Bay Street as its new Artistic Director. A special welcome party was hosted last evening by Bonnie Comley and Stewart Lane at a private club in New York City to celebrate his arrival and to introduce him to Bay Street Theatre patrons and members of the Broadway community of actors, directors and producers. The York Theatre Company presents new addition to its educational arm: Bespoke Musicals, a program that pairs teams of emerging writers, chosen by The York Theatre Company, with companies of students from musical theatre college training programs. For its maiden voyage, The York will be collaborating with Marymount Manhattan College.

Theatre 167 will present the Manhattan Premiere of THE JACKSON HEIGHTS TRILOGY, a rotating repertory of three plays about the Queens, New York neighborhood famous for being the world's most diverse community. Created by 18 playwrights and starring a company of 37 actors playing 93 multicultural roles, the plays were conceived and will be directed by Ari Laura Kreith. The trilogy will inaugurate the newly renovated 777 Theatre, located at 777 8th Avenue at 47th Street beginning February 8th. While each of the plays has been presented individually in Queens to critical acclaim, this is the first time any of these plays will be seen in Manhattan and the first time they are being presented together in repertory, where audiences can see them individually or all in one day.
